Its too bad they won't admit that they just find it too hard to perform personally, and refer their patients to other surgeons who do the DS. What I find most upsetting is that there are some surgeons who will only do the DS for patients who *know and understand* the surgery and specifically ask for it. Instead of telling them about the DS, they think it is the patient's responsibility to know about it. I know there are many people who have not been as lucky as we are and have not found out about DS, so do not know to ask for it......but you would think if their surgeons perform the DS along with the RNY, the surgeons would explain the DS to their patients and then let the patient make the decision, instead of not telling the patient, but only doing the DS IF the patient already knows about it. Very frustrating and upsetting for all those poor patients who just go along with the doc since they don't know about anything better.
