Upcoming Celiac events in May and June

The next two months are just packed with loads of celiac events. I think

some of these may have been mentioned on this list before, but here they are

all together.

2ND ANNUAL STANFORD WALK FOR CELIACS

SATURDAY, MAY 15

Registration and a gluten free continental breakfast begin at 8:30AM.

The walk begins at 9AM and is 2 ½ miles long, although you are welcome to

shorten your walk if you desire. The walk is wheelchair and stroller

accessible. All pre-registered walkers will receive a visor.

You can send Rohlfs an e-mail message to register, and just pay

at the door. All proceeds benefit the Celiac Sprue Research Foundation.

, the awesome baker who bakes for our conferences is baking for the

walk, a treat not to be missed. Also, Mike is bringing his frozen bread

dough in ready-to-bake pans that he intends to hand out to folks and also

offer samples of the baked bread.

Special note: Gluten-free beer is available from Ramapo Valley Brewery. You

can order it by phone and have it shipped to you. Janet of Ramapo said:

" If you are interested we do ship the gf beer out anywhere. Please give us a

call. 845-369-7827. " The shipping makes it a bit expensive, but not hugely

more than most micro-brews. Ken, the sadly deprived celiac beer-lover in

our family, says, " Beer it ain't, but it's close. It has a mild taste with

a distinct honey flavor. Since it has no grain it does not have the malt

flavor typical of most beers. Definitely worth a try as it is the closest

you can get to gluten-free beer. "
