Guest guest
Amy, I live in Shreveport, La., but I have a lot of family in the New Orleans area. Some came up here with us, some stayed behind. We have only heard from one family member so far and he is in the Hammond area. They are still getting wind gusts up to 80mph. Their house is fine, almost lost their pool and a big tree branch went through their neighbors roof. They can't get out of their neighborhood due to large trees blocking the road. The family that is here, is ready to leave now to see if their houses are still there, but we're urging them to stay another night until the storm is completely past and the police can access the damage. Guest guest
tammy ---thanks again do you have the elementary and middle school phone numbers? thanks Kim t_mayeaux wrote:Hey everyone, I live in Shreveport, La. I know that alot of you are wanting to help with donations to this area for the evacuees from New Orleans and the surrounding areas. I have been in contact with three schools in this area and they are each desperately needing monetary funds. Each of the schools have received 50+ evacuees and alot of the children only have sandels for shoes and no uniforms. Our schools here are uniform code and the money will help to get these children much needed clothes, jackets, shoes, belts and school supplies. If you would like to donate money you can send a check to me and I will get it to the schools. Please make the checks out to either- Waller Elementary schools, Rusheon Middle School, or Bossier High School. In the memo put " Hurricane Katrina relief victims " . If you would rather send cloths or shoes. That would be appreciated also. Shoe sizes needed are 3-7, belts(blue, black or brown, uniform shirts polo style navy blue, hunter green, or white size child xs - size 10-12. Jackets need to be navy blue. You can also call me at for any other questions. There are several shelters here and I can get in contact with them for anyone wanting to donate. Thanks for any help, Here's my email address to get my home address for the checks: t_mayeaux@...
