Congrat's on the s! It's so exciting to see them and I

know you can't wait to get your little one in them! Does she have a

fiberglass outer layer on her casts? DH just poured a bottle of

vinegar into the tub and filled it up with water- just like we would

for a bath. To help get the fiberglass off (the vinegar really

doesn't help with that), he just used a butter knife and pried up

the edge and then peeled it off. All in all it took him 20 mins- but

he also used the butter knife on the plaster to help pull it apart.

Just remember to put her directly into the s after taking

off the casts. Don't wait a day or a night because the feet can

relapse very quickly!

,

We soaked off my son's last cast in the baby tub and it actually wasn't too

bad. We used fairly warm water (the warmer the better - but CAREFUL so it's not

too warm for the baby). And we put baby shampoo in the water to soften the

water. It actually worked a heck of a lot better than the vinegar. We just

drained out the water as it cooled and added more warm water. I tried soaking

the first cast off with the water/vinegar combination and it was a nightmare. I

wound up with a half off/half on cast that smelled like vinegar (not to mention

the crying my little guy did because of the vinegar smell). I had to drive 2

hours to the doctor's office with that vinegar smell in the car and filled the

doctor's office with that smell. My suggestion is to just use warm water and

baby shampoo and peel away the cast as it softens up. " Massaging " the cast helps

soften it even more as it's soaking.

Hello All,

We just received Mallory's 's in the mail today! I don't

think I've ever been so excited about a pair of shoes! We are so

hoping for a better experience for her! The problem is....she was re-

casted to hold her correction and we can't get into the doctor until

next tuesday to have her cast taken off. In reading your postings I

have seen you talk about soaking the cast off....just wondering how

difficult it is and how exactly is the best way to do it. Probably a

dumb question but this is all new to us :)

Thanks!
