Guest guest
Hi Christee I can't remember what Chicken Pox looks like. It is 11 years since my teenage daughters had it! but I would say, all rashes/spots on youngsters should be taken very seriously. It may be nothing, it may be the result of being run down as a result of the other symptoms. 's legs and face go blotchy and pimply when he has a cold. There are many many things that cause rashes/irritations/spots etc. I think you should get it checked out if you are concerned. Can you get to see a doctor? At the very least, I would phone the local nurse again, say it might well be an emergency -you can't rule it out as you don't know what has caused the spots. I just don't think these things are worth taking a chance on, especially as your children have not been immunized. Sorry, not much help, I hope your daughter feels better soon, Stella > > Ok, I know that atleast my youngest some was exposed to ChickenPox, so very possible for my daughter. Sorry I am coming here to ask off topic, but I called our local ER advice nurse, and she was RUDE telling me that it was not an emergency question, so she would not give me the info needed. On Friday me daughter threw up 3X and had a low grade fever. Yesterday she was tired and cranky, but feeling a little better. I did notice that she had these pimple like spots (no white heads) 2 on the side of her face, then 1 on her back, then 1 on her theigh, and 2 on her leg. The ones on her back and theigh look th emost irritated. They are all raised, and red. I dont see a blister yet (like the internet tells you they get). So far (havent stripped her yet this morning to really check) no more. Could this be ChickenPox or maybe something else? None of my kids are immunized for them. She's still too young, and I didnt think it was necessary for the others. She also has had some loose > poops and had a little cough for about a week. Guest guest
Several months ago, we thought my son may have had chicken pox...he had something similar to what you described, but without the vomiting. We figured either that, or an allergic reaction (he had been to my SIL's house and she is not known for her housekeeping...) We ended up taking him to urgent care (it was a weekend) and they said it was an allergy. The rash didn't get better with bendryl, claritin, oatmeal baths or anything. We brought him to his pediatrician first thing on Monday, and it turned out he had strep throat. I never knew rashes were a symptom, but apparently it is. May be something to check into... Guest guest
That's Scarlet Fever, which is strep yes. Strep can sometimes turn into this, characterized by a prickly bumpy rash and a *strawberry tongue*. Scarlet Fever isn't dangerous in itself, it is simply another manifestation of strep, but if not treated it could turn into rheumatic fever which is the bad one. my kids had scarlet fever a few times last year for some reason. Guest guest
That is really interesting to know! There were a whole bunch of things going on with him then...he had been taking pennicillian for an ear infection for nearly a week when he got the rash so Urgent Care thought it was just a reaction to that. When it didn't get better when he went off the medication, we took him to his pediatrician, who did a strep culture. Now we don't know if he had the rash because he's allergic to pennicillian, or if he had it from the strep. He didn't have the red tongue though. It looked normal. Thankfully his next round of antibiotics worked really well, and he hasn't been sick since. (now that I said that, he'll come home with something tonight....) > > > > > > Ok, I know that atleast my youngest some was exposed to > >ChickenPox, so very possible for my daughter.
