Dear Liane:

I try not to take anything liquid, I hate liquids they in general taste

bad. I take Dairy Care capsules for my lactose intolerance and it works

great.

take dairycare, or lactase, or acidolpholus with your first swallow

of dairy products. you will have to adjust your dose according to

how your body reacts. some need more supplements than others.

good luck.

Dr. Keshishian recommend that I start to try dairy just after the first

month. So far, milk still is problematic. Cheeses and yogurt are fine,

though.

I keep hoping and taking my lactase.

Best -

Thanks Tiger..

I was just curious.. I don't drink a lot of milk, so I thought I'd try

the DairyCare kind to see if it worked any better/different than the

pills. Gotta say, if the milk is nasty, how it works doesn't help

much, lol

Thanks again-

Lactaid brand milk is very good, at least to my pre-op senses. It is a bit

sweeter than regular milk however, with the lactose gone. In addition to the

lactaid or Dairy Ease pills there are also drops that you can put into any

milk, making it lactose free. I don't find that any less expensive than

buying Lactaid milk tho. As you can tell, as a pre-op I'm lactose intolerant.

Sheryl: I wasn't lactose intolerant as a pre-op, and, thankfully, haven't

developed it as a post-op. I did, however, start out with Lactaid after my

surgery. I figured it would 'phase my body into' the lactose and stuff in

milk while still providing me with a great liquid protein option which I took

advantage of, especially in the first three weeks post-op on the limited diet!

I would recommend starting with the Lactaid as an immediate post-op. I

didn't experience any problems with the Lactaid, cheeses, yogurt or anything

dairy. I don't know if having Lactaid milk was the only reason for my lack

of problems with dairy but I'm sure it didn't hurt. :)

I even got two bottles of that dairyease (I forgot the name - it helps with

lactose intolerance) before my surgery and NEVER used it (yet?). AGH! Those

tablets are NOT cheap! LOL

all the best,

Dairy care is just lactase with some Acidophilus added. --Steve

That's because the process of going from milk to cheese or yogurt

involves digestion of the lactose in the milk. The work has already

been done for you.

His point in suggesting that I try dairy was that it would eventually

kick-start my system into producing its own lactase. I'm still waiting . .

..
