Guest guest
, it sounds like 7th nerve palsy (Bell's). You've probably called your doctor by now (I'm guessing it's Monday afternoon there?). What did he say? With my first episode back in 1999, I took the Pred (wasn't on it yet) along with Acyclovir, as some research showed Bell's palsy associated with herpes virus. That episode resolved completely in a couple of weeks. I had a second episode in 2001 & just took Prednisone. It resolved slowly (and incompletely), requiring electric stimulation of the facial muscles by a speech therapist. I've always wondered if the Acyclovir would have made a difference; probably not, since my docs all believe the palsies were caused by NS. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply, Rose. Yes, it's Monday afternoon here I haven't called my neurologist, mainly because I don't think it's that serious after all .... my husband doesn't think my mouth looks any different, and the twitching has stopped. I can do all the 'facial nerve checks' (puffing out cheeks, scrunching up eyes, baring my teeth, etc) without any problem. I think there is some increase in the numbness I'm feeling on that side of my face, but it's not significant enough to bother my neurologist with - if it keeps getting worse, though, I will call him. I am seeing him in a few weeks anyway. I had a 6th nerve palsy five years ago, which they never determined a cause for, and they now think was probably from NS. Fun, isn't it? xo > , it sounds like 7th nerve palsy (Bell's). You've probably called your doctor by now (I'm guessing it's Monday afternoon there?). What did he say? Guest guest
, I'm sorry, the worse thing is more new symptoms, I just hate that, I have problem with my the left side of my face, everyone says they can't see anything, but I do, ever so slightly, it's been this way for a long time. my L eye waters all the time, and liquid runs out of the L side, especially when tired. I know how much you hate going back up on the Pred. but it's the right thing to do, I'm guessing, let us know what the Neuro has to say. MarlaJust one day at a time, That's all God ask of us. for there never really is a tomorrow, as that too is just today:) Hi all, I was woken during the night with muscle twitching in my face - on the right side (the side which has been numb since Sept), and when I look in the mirror now, the right side of my mouth is drooping down - so I guess there's been a palsy or further nerve damage? Guest guest
No, it's not got any worse ... I'll be interested in seeing if things change when I drop my pred dose again this Friday (I'm currently dropping my dose by 1 mg/week)... > I hope your neuro wants to see you, nothing else is numb or weak is it? > > > > > Subject: Palsy? > To: Neurosarcoidosis > Date: Sunday, February 20, 2011, 4:33 PM > > > Hi all, > > I was woken during the night with muscle twitching in my face - on the right side (the side which has been numb since Sept), and when I look in the mirror now, the right side of my mouth is drooping down - so I guess there's been a palsy or further nerve damage? Guest guest
See your Doctor "TODAY" (Be it your Neuro or GP). There are too many things it can be that can be helped the faster you see them. Hopefully it's nothing but don't play games and wait Palsy? > To: Neurosarcoidosis > Date: Sunday, February 20, 2011, 4:33 PM > > > Hi all, > > I was woken during the night with muscle twitching in my face - on the right side (the side which has been numb since Sept), and when I look in the mirror now, the right side of my mouth is drooping down - so I guess there's been a palsy or further nerve damage?
