Guest guest
Hi Tammy Liam has had 2 lots of ear tubes so we have tried it all. You can buy eae plugs that squash down and expand once you put them in the ear, or there is stuff like blu tac(stuff we use to stick things on walls) these things are available at swimming schools or sport shops that sell swimming gear, usually where the goggles are. We are in Australia and Im assuming you can get this stuff in America. If they are just splashing around in water, let her just have the ear putty or plugs, if she is actually going swimming, put a swimming cap on over the top of her ears with the putty in, that pretty much keeps all water out. We can also get headbands that are made out of wetsuit material, but because of Liams big head little face it would never stay on round his ears. Good luck !! It doesnt take them long to learn not to get there ears wet. liam is 4 and seems to be growing out of his ear problems, we are doing lots of nose blowing and pretend chewing to get his tubes clear by themselves. Guest guest
Hi, Glad to hear she did so well! Emerence's doctor's office made her a custom fit set of ear plugs. They squirted a liquidlike plastic into her ear and let it set for 10 minutes. Then I just pop them in and out when she wants to get wet. The cost $30 and were well worth it to us since she doesn't grow much (such a surprise there) so we only go through 2-3 sets a year. In the mean time there are moldable plugs y ou can buy at the drugstore. Our ENT also recommended cotton balls slathered with petroleum jelly. , mom to 5 and Emerence 2 RSS/SGA 29mo 32 " 21 lbs and totally, completely wearing me out (1 hour screaming at the top of her lungs....I don't WANT to GO to BEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDD! over and over and over...my husband gave in and put her in OUR bed....and he goes to Chile to visit his family for 3 weeks on Saturday so guess who I'm going to have to get to sleep by myself > Hey Everyone, > > We'll we did it! got her ear tubes this morning. Guest guest
With my two older children the ENT gave me putty to put in their ears to keep the water out. It was just like the putty Jody was talking about. However, with the twins and the new tubes we didn't have to worry abut water. As long as it was fresh water we didn't have to use plugs. We have a pool and both Coby and Carlee go under the water daily and we have not had any trouble with it. le, mom to: Shye 10, Brock 8, and Coby (rss) & Carlee 2 yr old twin terrors! Guest guest
hey Tammy, When got his ear tubes that was one of the first questions that I asked about. The doctor told me that can do anything in the water and we don't have to worry about plugs. If water does get in then it should drain out. unless wax plugs it, but then you need ear drops for that. I would ask your doctor about that.
