Guest guest
Personally, after talking to 2 WLs surgeons and reading about it and hearing about Carnie , I wasn't even aware of the DS untill I was clued in by another person - as in " Say have you checked this out? " When I read about the DS, I had to think a lot...could I control my sweet cravings? Was I 'trustworthy' enough to have the ability to have sweets withour penalty. Like so many others I had gotten into the guilt and blame for a fat body. It took a lot of time and study and reading posts before I finally got it...duh...I don't have to give up sugar. Just knowing that I can have sweets...anytime...makes it easy for me to not have them. What 'diet' lets you make that decision? OK so I have them and maybe I slow down my weight loss but having lost over 60 lbs in 4 months I don't mind slowing it down some. My surgeon, the nortorious Dr who has quit doing the DS for a plethora of reasons (a different reason every day) first touted the Lap Band (not covered by insurance at the time) then the RNY. She made me go home and 'think' about the DS after my initial appointment, I called back the next day and said I have thunk and I want it. She was hesitant for all 6 of the DS surgeries she has done in Portland. So stupid? I think thats harsh. Perhaps under educated about the available surgeries. Perhaps the DS is not available in network or from their insurance coverage. It's a real shame that this great WLS option is not given sufficient advertisement. elle in orygun - under 200 for the first time in decades - down from size 24 to 16 in less than 4 months. off insulin, 2 of 5 hypertension meds, no CPAP, high cholesterol gone and feeling wonderful
