We were told to get rid of carbonation we should pour soda into a glass and then

stir with a metal spoon. I just let mine sit a long time to go flat but it

still tasted bad. Maybe Diet 7-up doesn't have that same bad taste as I can now

drink Diet Vernor's just fine. It's the colas that get to me.

Dear ,

When I went to Dr. Ren and Barrie for my 3 week follow-up, I was

already eating filet mignon and chicken marsala (chewed well, it's

soft, right?), Chinese chicken and broccoli and I had already tried a

NYC hot warm salty pretzel (which BTW felt like lead so early post-op

and was not a good food choice at the time) and when Barrie asked me

if I had gas, I confessed that the Cheese Doodles I ate (has " cheese "

in them) made me gassy. Drinking a few sips of caffeine and sugar

free sem-flat soda seems not too bad to me. From what I gathered on

these boards, everything is fair game if it doesn't bother you. A

few daily sips of semi-flat soda certainly will not bust one of the

several rows of stomach sutures. We were put together a little more

secure than that. On the other hand, the surgeons and the

nutritionists are going to say take it easy. Listen to your body and

try to take in as much protein as possible.

Hi Jane. It seems I'm on the same course you were for my 3 week post-

op appointment. I really think a lot of this, as I said before, is

about trial and error(and which you confirmed). As I also said, I

just don't want to hurt my body in any way either, and am trying to

listen to it to be my guide.

Now, it seems my stomach/bowels have become nocturnal. The last 3

nights in a row I've spent hitting the loo, around a half-dozen times

each night/early morning. Ugh, this can be so frustrating! If I had

to go to work in the morning, I'd want to shoot myself! What makes it

worse, as of late, is it's accompanied by a small amount of

ache/cramping. And last night I added something new to the act: gas.

OMG, never experienced anything like that before! Thank God I live

alone (and I did notice that my cat was conspicuously absent from my

bedroom last night!).

Am I to assume this is from stuff I may have ventured eating? I'm

just not sure if it's that or normal body recovery. Is there anything

I can take, to at least help with the ache? The other night I took 2

Immodium AD Advanced and the following night a a swig of Pepto. I

just wanted the tummy ache to go away and the runs to ease up. Don't

think they did much.

Gonna try some rice today. Barrie said it's fine, so I'll give it a

shot. Perhaps a banana too. Any other suggestions? I'd be feeling

perfect if it weren't for this! Oh well, could be worse, so I won't

complain anymore.
