Kaci,

Gold or red bar? If it's the gold one, you can just take one shoe

off the bar and then re-connect it under the toy. Darbi really loved

banging her bar on the floor in the doorway jumper. thump, thump,

thump... pretty cute. They don't make them in any way that you

could get around taking either the shoe off the foot, or the shoe off

the bar to get on but it's doable with the gold bar rather

easily. Red bar... maybe not so easy but still doable.

I have heard of people cutting the seat of exersaucer and putting snaps or

buttons in so you can just unsnap the seat and stand him in there and then

close the snaps so there is no removing any shoes.

Subject: Toys - kind of OT

Hi all. is getting to an age where I think he would really

enjoy an exersaucer or a jumperoo, something he could sit up in and

have toys to play with. The things I have seen all require you to put

their feet through the legholes - he is in Markells 23/7 right now,

and I don't want to have to take them off and put them on underneath a

toy. If anyone has a recommendation of a similar toy that their child

likes and is easy with the shoes, please let me know. It may just be

something we need to wait until he gets the hours reduced. He just

seems to be getting a little bored with the things he has :(

Thanks!

Red bar, but I think it might be attached to his shoe different than

what is normal but we generally find it easier to take the shoes off

the feet than to take the bar off the shoes. I just can't imagine

doing it while laying on the floor! I guess with cf babies we just

have to get used to the thumping, huh? It's usually the first sound

I hear in the morning, although a bit softened since he's thumping

against his mattress.

Thanks -

I've thought about trying to rig something up but I'm a little

afraid it wouldn't be secure enough (and I can't sew!). I would

love to hear from someone who actually did this and how it worked!

lol, yeah, the red bar is not easy to put back on. You *can* take

the bar apart at the middle by loosening the clamp. You end up with

two shoes each with half a bar attached and you can thread it through

the holes. But this can wear out the clamp prematurely. Either

order a couple extra clamps to have on hand if they break, or if and

when it happens just use a hose clamp (like automotive) and order

them at that time. Hose clamps work, they're just not pretty and can

be sharp so you'll want to pad the bar with pipe foam for sure.

thump, thump, thump... just wait till he starts crawling! lol

We had the red bar and shoes also and wore them full time from

the age of 5.5-8.5 months.

Since she was older during her full-time wear period, I got adept at

putting her in seats that had a strap or bar between the legs (our

stroller had this, restaurant high chairs, our swing, the exersaucer

etc.)!

I would take 's non-clubfoot out of the shoe, then slide the

shoe and the bar through the leg hole prior to the foot that was

still in the shoe, then put the loose foot back into the shoe and

lace it up. Yes, it was a pain....but I just did it. Otherwise I'd

save her exersaucer and johnny jump-up time for her free hour during

the day. :)

I wish I knew of a toy that didn't have the closed leg holes to

refer you to!

Sorry!

Eli is in the red bar, and in teh beginning I would take off one side of the bar

and reattach it under teh exersaucer. That became too much of a pain quickly

though, so we moved to giving him a bath and then putting him in teh exersaucer

immediatly (without shoes), so his hour was all spent at once. He LOVED this,

and now that we're at 20-22/7, we still allow him to be in the exersaucer

without his shoes - i think it helps with the foot muscle development also.

HTH!!
