Guest guest
Hi , My g-daughter, Aidan, has been the same way lately. She just turned 5 this summer, and started K this fall. She LOVES school, but it's a big change in her life, and it's unsettled her " normal " schedule. I have to say that I'm not an advocate of TV. (sorry Deb) I think the TV is used too often to occupy kids these days, and that this, and future generations would greatly benefit from a TV power failure! (happens in my house all the time when the plug " accidentally " falls out of the wall outlet! LOL) Not to say that I don't use the TV as a bribe to get to eat, or to get a few minutes for a shower, but I hate to see kids spend " hours " in front of the box. There are so many more " healthy " activities for them to spend their time doing. My g-kids have a fish tank in their room, and that is their " entertainment " at bedtime. They also have a CD player, and we usually play either classical, or lullaby music at night. Anything quiet and soothing. And our nighttime routine is set in stone. An hour before bedtime we take a warm relaxing bath, followed by a quickie massage with lotion and jammie time. Then it's snack, tooth brushing, a story or two, depending on how well they followed the schedule, hugs and cuddles and tucked in tight, feed the fish (so they're very active for the first few minutes of " alone time " in their room) and out I go. The g-kids also get the book we read for story time in bed with them so they have something quiet/boring to look at while they're trying to nod off. It doesn't always work. Some nights I think they'll NEVER go to sleep, but most of the time they're out within 15 minutes (even if they've protested loud and clear that they are just NOT tired! LOL) Just another suggestion...... Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 3 yrs 9 months old, 24.5#, 34 " , G-tube, GHT)
