Guest guest
, I am 28 yrs. old and have RSS. I have about a quarter of an inch asemetry, and therefore I do have scoliosis. I've never had surgery or any major type of treatment. It is helpful for me to wear a lift on the inside of my shoes (except for sandles etc..). Placing the lift in my shoes has cut down on back pain. I think the severity of the scoliosis probably depends on the amount of asemetry a person has. You can get the lifts either at chiropractors or medical doctors. cjajdmalcolm wrote: Hi everyone! I haven't heard anyone say anything about scoliosis. Is it not that common? I read it could go along with the asymetry? I hope it's not that common, that was one of the scarier things I read about RSS. Guest guest
hi jessica!! yes scoliosis can be an issue, but it can be with a non-rss child as well. your dr should be aware of this and will keep an eye out for it. christopher has assmentry of his left side and his leg is 1cm shorter than the right. this is not a big dicrepency (most orthos wont do anything unless it is i beleive off by 1 1/2 " ) but right now we found out at convention that he has whats called functional scoliosis. it is caused by hi assmentry. if we get him the lift for his shoe (which we also have to get because the muscles in his legs are getting ridged, esp. the right because he compensates by walking on the ball of his right foot instead of fully extending his leg) this will correct itself with the lift. jodie c > Hi everyone! Guest guest
My little girl has a double curved spine and she has to wear a back brace. I was told she was rss at birth but now they don't know she is 9 and still wears 5-6 clothes. rachel --- cjajdmalcolm wrote: > Hi everyone! I haven't heard anyone say anything > about scoliosis.
