Kathleen: Congrats on your surgery date! Believe me, you are in good hands

(I'm sure you know this already LOL). I'm glad that you've gotten so much

info from this site. These are great boards with a LOT of experienced people

and a lot of diverse views of what post-op life is and can be.

Just know that we're here for you should you have any questions, concerns or

just want to chat! :)

One thing, though --- I wouldn't get into the habit of having all those

ADEKS. For one, it will provide way too much of those vitamins for a normal

person and these vitamins can be overdosed on, I think (not that taking them

one or two day will put you in the ER or anything). But, even more

importantly: Having excess Vitamin E *can* cause bleeding during surgery.

So, they often will tell you to stop taking vitamin supplements (even of the

normal kind and especially Vit E) at least a week before surgery. :):)

Kathleen,

I'm glad you've picked up some great post-op tips and you have a daughter that's

definitely in your debt! *grins* Now you have a indebted servant! :) It will

help that she's post-op as well, so you can compare notes! Along with the tongs,

don't forget Cottonelle flushable wipes! They saved my tushie for those first

few weeks when my toilet and I were as close as newlyweds! Now we're still

close, but thankfully, we're growing apart over time..*grins* Those first few

weeks can be hard, but each day gets better and brings you closer to be a

normal-eating, healthy person!

We'll be sending those positive vibes your way :)

Oh, shit! I mean, darn!

I sometimes forget that my mother reads this list so I'm gonna have

to clean things up a bit! It's a good thing that I didn't chime in

with what the two T(h)eresas have been talking about!

I've been eavesdropping on all your conversations for some time now.

I feel like I should identify myself (again). My surgery is

scheduled for 12/17, NYC, Dr. Gagner. Isn't that a great date, just

one week before Christmas? Oh well, I keep thinking ahead to this

time next year. I'm not one for wishing my life away, but boy, does

one year from now sound exciting, or what!

I've found some interesting info here. Thanks goodness my daughter,

, found this surgery. She's the one that Loves ADEKS. She

made me eat three chewables with her last night. The big baby! She

screws her face up like a wrinkled prune(as if she were sucking on a

lemon) with each chew. Even the kids are laughing at her. I thought

the square chocolate one (I get them mixed up) tasted pretty good.

Okay, okay -- I'm sure I'll be sick of them too, eventually.

I tried to help her out this morning. I mashed all the morning pills

and mixed the powder is a little applesauce. The unappreciative

child moaned, and had a mild fit when she found I'd also mashed a

prescription pill (it left a nasty taste). Then of all things, she

tried to get me to eat the foul concoction. Does she think I'm

stupid or something?

Anyway, we will have each other for misery vitamin companions soon.

My turn to get waited on is coming. She's going to NYC with me to be

my " companion " . I'm sure the only reason she's willing to go is

because she knows my modesty will prevent her from having to do

any " down and dirty deeds " , if you get my drift (unlike what she put

her poor husband through). And they say, like mother, like

daughter! Hah!

Someone posted that they forget to measure pre-op. Now I know.

Someone posted about the necessity of having tongs handy. Now I know

(lucky daughter). Someone posted about not eating too fast. Now I

know. And your mothers all told you eavesdropping was not nice.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably post again POST-OP, hurray (or as

someone posted, after I've been switched.) Now I know.

I love you two! How amazingly lucky you are to have each

other. Humor can get me through just about anything. I

appreciate (in advance and from a great distance), the

joking and teasing and giggling and pouting and even more

joking that's going to be going on in NYC on 12/17. :)

If I end up going to Spain for my DS, I'll be able to have

my own daughter around to get into all kinds of mischief on

my behalf.

Jean.

Hey Kathleen,

I am your darling brat's switch sister and I have to say the acorn

doesn't fall far from the tree. I see your daughter got her wonderful

sense of humour from you!

Best of luck to you on the 17th and I will be sure to keep you in my

thoughts and prayers!

Hugs,

Theresa

Thanks for the info. I'll stop the Vit. E now.
