Dawn,

I know very little about PECS, but went to www.Do2Learn and copied

hundreds of PECS pictures. My friend who teaches special ed and has

worked with many ASD kids helped give me ideas for informal use with

my daughter. My child has age appropriate lang, just doing this to

help with receptive lang, and using words, instead of crying. Anyway,

I would do the actual pictures if you can bc that is more " real " and

easier to recognize. Anyway, I glued several B/W pictures to index

cards and put magnet tape on the back, put them on the fridge and

pull down the food choices for each meal. We pretty much eat the same

things. I also made a feelings chart and hung it up. The other day I

was in a BAD mood and she went to the chart and said, " Mommy is

angry " . I was happy it was sinking in! I also made a picture book

with her 5 main aggressive areas. She carries it to Mother's Day Out

and they use it. We take it on playdates, to Walmart, etc...It has

the pictures of " no bite " , " no kick " , etc...She thinks that little

book is the coolest thing. Unfortunately, the aggression book hasn't

sunk in, but I am hopeful....SIGH. Check out that website I

mentioned. It is really nice, I think. Good luck, let us know if you

come up with some other great ideas.
