I would have to say that I agree with Jodi. We were told to hold off on

solids because they take longer to digest, and didn't contain as many

calories as 's high calorie formula. He was on 30kcal/oz mixture at

that time. The Ped felt, at that age, that calories were more important than

oral eating skills.

You have gotten a lot of good advice, but for what it is worth, I'll tell

you my story. I know that any food is not recommended under the age of 6

months, however when my kids were little {one with RSS, one without} our GP

was " old school " and she had me start the kids on pabulum {rice} at two or

3 months and then the next month we moved to baby food {always peas first,

because I got a kick out of the poop during green}. Adam, {my RSS one} never

had a feeding tube, never had gut issues or delayed emptying or reflux. Also

allergies do not run in our family {all the things already mentioned that

you should watch out for}. It's a tough decision and you should discuss the

pros and cons with your ped. Also Adam was not on any high calorie formulas

or anything {no one even suspected there was anything wrong with him until

his second birthday}
