Guest guest
I know some of you have been following and knew that he was scheduled for surgery yesterday. I just wanted to let you all know that, once again, shines and was the true hero in the whole situation. He was admitted Thursday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon so that we could get someone with great experience in IV placements. Luckily, the nurse practitioner of the Orthopeadic floor was wonderful and had read 's entire medical history and read what she could find on RSS and even distributed it to all the proper people, including nurses that would be taking care of . She approached me about the IV andI told her I want the best. Someone that can place an IV with one stick on the hardest of patients. She searched out an anesthesiologist who did just that. hated it, but cooperated so well. But, he did tell me that he doesn't love me anymore. ( Very sad. They started his IV up at 8 o'clock. And he slept horribly that night. Was up at 1:30 in the morning and didn't go back to sleep at all. His surgery was at 8 a.m. and they said he didn't fight them at all. He let them put the mask on his nose and they talked and asked him questions and he answered them until he went to sleep. They said the intubation went wonderfully and the surgery itslef went even better. The doctor said it was one of the easiest extractions he has done. now has a purple cast (he chose the color) on his arm for about three weeks unless he knocks it off himself. ) They gave him a nerve block and that lasted until about 8:30 last night. He came off the ventilator well and only needed one treatment afterwards to help clear him up. I guess he had some mild wheezing and cough after they pulled the tube, but nothing too unusual they said. He did well tolerating the Pedialyte and eventually full strength formula. Never gagged or spit up the first time. I just can't believe how well it all went, and just about everyone invloved was great and totally worked with us. They let me make the decisions and let me run the show for the most part. That was great and a relief for me. I only had one doctor try to argue with me and said he was an RSS expert, too, after I told him about Dr. H. I think he was very threatened that I knew of her, and more still that she manages 's care for the most part. I don't think he liked that I wouldn't let anything happen unless it was okayed by Dr. H. I gave him her number and info. and told him if we were to work with him that he would have to be willing to talk to her. I don't think he will be making that move, so we will not be using him. I don't like how he came off anyway, so I will be hunting for a new endo. He said D5 was going to be sufficient for , but will do D10 since I was adamant about it. Good thing because even on the D10 was in the low 80's. Also, he wants to fast and check out all the levels because he thinks that there is some underlying problem with because hypoglycemia can't be just part of RSS. I was looking at my mom like " This guy is an idiot " . He swore it had to be diabetes in my family or something. Sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to let you all know that is doing well and seems to be in little pain. He just slept 4 hours as he was very exhausted as can be expected. He is in a great mood now and I need to try to figure out how to give him a bath by myself and try to keep that cast out of the water. Hubby is out working! Ugh! ) Thank for all the thoughts, Jodi R. , RSS, 3, my hero! )
