Guest guest
Oh, I need to blow off steam! Oh, I am so angry!!!!!! I got a call from Max's case manager today. She said that I need to get a doctor's note frome the GI that explains why Max is not in school. Why didn't they tell me this last week????? Okay, so I called the GI's office. Dr. Rosh, Max's official GI, has left for the day because of Rosh Hashanah. Well, I celebrate that holiday, too, but I was still at work at 3:15.... He is out of the office until Thursday, but some other doctor in the office said that Max should be in school and that he does not need a note. Even if he did, no one will write it until Dr. Rosh returns. I had a fit. I totally lost it. Max cannot go to school because he is ruminating/hiccuping all the time. He also throws up at unexpected moments, sometimes barely making it to the bathroom on time. Then, the kids at school start getting annoyed with him for making these noises and he gets stressed which starts the cycle all over again. I told this nurse that this was unacceptable and that he needs the note now so that he can start home instruction immediately. She said the drs. there said no. I told her that she and that staff are responsible for my son not getting the education that he needs and is entitled to because of their stubbornness and unwillingness to work with us. Max IS willing to go to school for the first three periods of the day (small classes, great teachers) but he cannot handle the full day. The nurse will only turn him around and send him back home again. Then I told her that I had spoken to Dr. Yusef over the weekend and HE wanted to start Max on Zelnorm this week - tomorrow to be exact. I wanted her to call in the prescription today so that I could have the med for tomorrow morning AND because tomorrow is MY holiday and I don't want to have to go to the store to get it. She said okay. Next, I called my husband and told him what happened. He called the GI office and let them have it. Basically he said he will call them in the morning and show up in the afternoon to pick up the note. No ifs, ands, or buts. Okay, things are looking up a bit, right? Well, I went to the drug store and they never called in the Zelnorm!!!! Let me get this straight.... The drs. there are saying Max CAN go to school, but they are NOT giving him the MEDS that he needs to get better so that he can go! It's bad enough that Dr. Rosh would not start Max on antibiotics right away in case he test positive for the H Pylori infection (we could stop it if it's negative), but the EXPERT in rumination in that office recommends Zelnorm to help him and they don't call it in for Max. I've had it. It's my holiday and now I have to spend it tomorrow calling all over the place, fighting and trying to get meds and a note for my son. I'm going to call the pediatrician as well and get her to write a note if I have to. I'll even take Max in to see her if I can. But this whole thing is so unnecessary. It's inexcusable. Max has been through enough. We've been through enough. I don't know what has happened in that GI office, but things are not as they once were. I don't know where to turn now.
