Guest guest
Someone was asking in an earlier post about judging the severity of brachy. I posted a response that addressed severity of the head visually and also posted a link to what I could find, but couldn't find the link to the pdf docment that I was looking for. I turns out that I had saved it to my computer at one point, so I am attaching it to this post for that person if she is still interested. I've also attached the plagio severity assessments. It is in pdf format and I got it originally from the CT website. I found them quite useful. 2 of 2 File(s) severity_assessment_plagio[1].pdf severity_assesement_brachy[1].pdf
Guest guest
My children were just diagnosed this week with plagio. my daughter is 18 months old and i was told that the starband the plastic surgeon uses wouldn't work for her since she is too old and I've been freaking out over the severity. I really appreciate the plagio assessment! It helped ease my mind just a little bit.
Guest guest
My daughter was treated young, but some people do have success at 18 mo or more. you might try going to the starband provider in your area or cranial technologies (cranialtech.com) to get an assessment and see if they will work with you. You will still need a prescription from a doctor, but if you had input from the band provider it might be helpful. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > My children were just diagnosed this week with plagio. my daughter is 18 months old and i was told that the starband the plastic surgeon uses wouldn't work for her since she is too old and I've been freaking out over the severity. Guest guest
Hi, It is possible for the Starband to work past 18 months. You won't get as much correction and it takes longer. It depends upon head growth. My son has had improvement in his Starband since 18 months. He still wears the band at 23.5 months. We believe there has been a tiny bit of improvement even within the past month. You just cannot have high expectations, but some improvement is much better than none. I would push for a band ASAP. -Kathy, mom to 23.5 months, treated for plagio since 12 months - jaimerz_81 wrote: My children were just diagnosed this week with plagio. my daughter is 18 months old and i was told that the starband the plastic surgeon uses wouldn't work for her since she is too old and I've been freaking out over the severity.
