Judie: At least that's the justification I use when I eat them -- 'Hey, at

least I'm getting my protein in!' RMAO

The mini-cups are nice in the fridge to just pop a few when a choco fix comes

along... That is usually sufficient. :)

I tell you honestly, I don't know what I'd do the rest of my life being

unable to eat a PB cup every now and then or eat a slice of my own birthday

cake! How about an ice cream cone on a hot summer's day?????? What is

LIVING without this stuff? Sure, I have to rely on myself more to 'monitor'

myself and not overeat these things (I want to maximize my weight loss and

keep it long term, of course!) but I think that ultimately this internal

monitoring must be developed with any weight loss surgery. Actually, I think

it's more necessary with the RNY since the initial dumping syndrome may

dissipate in time. If one relies on that to externally 'control' such

desires, I think one will get a shock later when one *can* consume and I know

that I would most likely overconsume after such a long period of denial!

This is what a NORMAL person eats. CAndy bars aren't just eaten by obese

people nor do they turn every skinny minny into a fatso. LOL The key is

moderation (something that has always been difficult for me, especially with

portions -- even with portions of 'good food'). I say a good steak, pasta

dripping with creamy alfredo sauce, a nice piece of chocolate are little,

necessary luxuries in life.

I noticed that a lot of RNY folk want to go out for a 'last' meal (usually

consisting of foods they will be unable to eat and/or not partake regularly).

Steak is one of these items for many. NOw, I don't know what I'd do if I

could not eat a good steak (full of protein!). It is one of the treats I

allow myself every now and then (I go to Outback Steakhouse and split the

ribeye with my DH or order a child sirloin with seasoned veggies on the side

--- SEVENTH HEAVEN). I remember I wrote about my celebration to be a size 18

when I went clothing shopping for the first time post-op (this was on the

ObesityHelp website, which is mainly RNY).

I commented that I went to Outback and split the ribeye, had baked potato,

their delicious grain bread smothered in butter (something I really loved as

a pre-op but do with ZERO and I mean ZERO guilt now!!!!) and even shared a

cheesecake with chocolate and raspberry sauces with my entire family. I

commented that life was GREAT and I loved my post-op experience. Someone

wrote that they were bothered by people mentioning that they could eat what

they wanted and/or partook of 'bad habits' post-op. I don't think providing

one's body with good, delicious nutrition is in ANY way bad! Even the

cheesecake is good, especially when I could only eat a little bit (got full

on the steak, potatoes and bread). I don't know if she was only referring to

me, but I bet quite a few on the list were rather incredulous that I could

eat such items and with such GUSTO and JOIE DE VIVRE! But, this is the VERY

reason why I chose the DS! :)

Even my candy has to have a protein fix nowadays!>>>>>>

Oh yeah, ! I had forgotten that peanut butter cups are excellent to

have if you have a sudden " choc " urge! Clever way to get in the protein,

eh?
