Guest guest
We have been using DMSA for a half year. No side effects at all from it. It has improved two of my children's memories, reading capabilities, math skills, you name it! Chelation requires lots of extra supplements to enhance the toxic metal removal and to replace important minerals and nutrients that may be removed along with the toxic metals, so be sure that you stick to the regimen that your doctor suggests. It is a lot of details to remember at first! What has helped me greatly with this regimen is to put all the supplements and DMSA doses on an excel spreadsheet, leaving room to check off each supplement as they have been given. I also put on the bottom of the sheet the next few weekend dates that the chelation will be done so I can plan ahead in case we have to leave town. I also noticed that the zinc supplements tend to make my boys feel a little nauseous. So I give that to them at night with their dinner because if I give it to them before bedtime they have become sick. Lab tests have revealed that the zinc levels are not low, so I know that they are absorbing the zinc. Good luck! Felicia
Guest guest
Felicia Did you do hair sampling for mercury levels? I found my sons hair from 2 haircuts when he was a baby and want to get them checked. What lab did you use? Thanks, Terry ( Beeda111@... )
Guest guest
No, we did not do hair sampling, we just did urine and blood samplings. The laboratory the urine and blood samples were sent to was Doctors Data, based in Illinois: Doctors Data, Inc. 3755 Illinois Ave. St. , IL 60174-2420 inquiries@... www.doctorsdata.com Our most recent blood lab work revealed high levels of copper. Mercury levels were below reference range. I do not know if the mercury levels can fluctuate over time during the chelation process. However, this is the first chelation lab work results that have shown extremely low levels of mercury. So, it would appear that the levels are dropping. High copper levels seem to be common for these kids. I don't know if chelation is the method to reduce the copper. This lab result was just received this past Friday, so I will review that with his doctor in the next 2 weeks. Our son's academic skills have blossomed during this chelation time. He is making friends at his new school, which is a private school. He has left a public, 12 student special needs classroom to a 27 normal student classroom and his teachers all say that he is holding his own! I had such huge doubts when he was 5 that he would learn to read. I truly believe that the gfcf diet and chelation turned the tide for our boy. Of course, tutoring, OT, ST were part of our recovery program. Sorry I am rambling, but I am SO PSYCHED about his progress! Felicia
Guest guest
Thanks for the input - obviously I need a new doctor. Frustration! The kids' dad thinks the mercury issue in amalgum is bunk and doesn't seem to think the mercury in immunizations is an issue either. I've emailed him the ARI page and www.amalgam.org but since he's an engineer (and I believe also AS) I would appreciate any URLs of legitimate scientific findings. He states he believes Dr. Dean Edel's web site www.HealthCentral.com (see below:). Also, I will have to pay out of pocket to refill both kids' amalgam fillings and he won't help with that as it's " unnecessary " . Where (URL) does it state that if you do chelation the filling will do xyz? Grrr..... Therese, Wyatt & Cody...on an uphill battle again... ____________________________________________________________________ ADA responds to mercury filling litigation June 18, 2001 WESTPORT, 15 (Reuters Health) - A recent lawsuit concerning mercury use in dental amalgams may cause many people with serious medical conditions to seek unwarranted dental treatments in hopes of curing their illnesses, according to a statement by the American Dental Association (ADA). A coalition of public interest groups filed a complaint on Tuesday alleging that the ADA and the California Dental Association have misled the public about the dangers of mercury in tooth fillings. " The complaint is without merit and we will mount a vigorous defense, " Sfikas, general counsel for the ADA, told Reuters Health. " We completely deny the contention that the ADA has been at all secretive about mercury use in dental amalgams, " he added. The ADA's position, as stated in its news release, is that " it is a scientific fact that mercury in dental amalgam chemically combines with other ingredients, including silver, to form a biologically inactive substance. " " Based upon the studies to date, it is clear that there is no sound scientific evidence supporting a link between amalgam fillings and systemic diseases or chronic illnesses, " Sfikas emphasized. " This is a position shared by all of the major US public health agencies, " he pointed out. " I have no information as to why they are filing this lawsuit now, " Sfikas said. " It appears to be a public relations effort on the part of the people who have brought the lawsuit, " he added.
