Guest guest
I can't believe your children are starting kindergarten! Where did the time go???? Whatever happened with the placement for both and Becca? Are they in the same school? I have four more days left of teaching extended school year and then I will have a month off. Don't know what I'm going to do, but I will make sure I enjoy it. Once Sept. starts, I will be quite busy. Oh, you'll find this kinda neat - Max is attending his first R movie today without an adult! He had to take his birth certificate to prove his age, though. No one believed he is really 17. Jodi Z
Guest guest
Hi Jodi, Yes, we got what we want in terms of school. is in the LEAP program (don't ask me what is stands for lol). He will be in a mainstream classroom with 2 45 minute pullouts to a self contained class daily for extra academic help. Also, he will get PT, OT, and ST. When in the self contained class, there will be one aide for every two children, and only a few kids in the room at a time. When in the mainstream class, the same aide will be with and one other child. The aide is supposed to sit with only, during meals and snacks. They said they will accomodate any snacks etc that we need. The school nurse will be handling one bolus a day for him. As for Becca, she is also in a mainstream class. In her class, there is a special ed teacher who pushes in 3 days/week to check on her and a few other kids with " extra " needs. She will also get PT, OT and counseling. I really don't know how they will handle her. She reads everything in sight. She has already read through A-T of the A-Z Mysteries, a few of the Magic Tree House books, a bunch of Magic Tree House books and a couple of Junie B. books. Today she bought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. On the other hand, she is still so far behind on her fine motor skills. It should be a very interesting year. Enjoy the month of August. Sleeping late, flopping around, and being a general couch potato sounds wonderful to me!!!!! As for Max, it is hard to believe that he is 17. And BTW, it isn't just an RSS thing. I had to carry my birth certificate and drivers license for years just to prove my age.
