Guest guest
Laurie, Thank you for posting. I am 28 yrs. old and have RSS. It is good to hear from someone who has RSS and has had a child. We just do not have much research. I have hesitated on having children because I was not sure what the pregnancy might be like, as well as the possibility of having an RSS child. I would love my child no matter what, but I do worry because I know the struggles. Would you mind telling me if you had any certain difficulties with your pregnancy etc.. I would sure appreciate anything you have to offer. Thank You, Brock wrote: There simply isn't any literature on children of RSS adults. But it sure is great to hear that you have a healthy son -- despite very geneticist telling people that it shouldn't be a problem, parents still worry. I do not believe that a tendency to be skinny would be a " trait " passed down to a child from an RSS parent. Gut instinct. I say this primarily because studies are showing that so many RSS children grow up to be overweight as adults! But again, there just isn't any literature. I would say that your child probably is just thin as a child, like other kids. My non-RSS son is in the 15th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height.... Guest guest
.... My pregnancy was a difficult one. First I was already over weight. I am 4ft 1inches, and at that time weighed about 100 lbs. I already had high blood pressure, probably due to family genes. I also married a tall guy, 6ft 5inches. Plus I was an asthmatic...so I got a lot of wammys. If you do not have these factors you might not have such a hard pregnancy. I had always been told not to married a tall person otherwise I would not be able to carry the child. Not.....I had asthma/bronchitis from the 5th month on. The doctors said my son was due in mid november I said nope, between October 15-30th, he was born on the 20th. I was pulled off of work at the beginning of September due to pre clampsia, and the week before delivering, was thought to have contractions due to the bronchitis again. The ob did a sonogram and found that I did not have any more room, so at the end of the week I had a c-section. One thing is that during the pregnancy, they did a sonogram to make sure the bone length of my son. If you have a normal sized baby you will get big. He was 7lbs, 6oz and 19 1/2 inches long, 5 1/2 weeks early. Make sure you have a good ob and genetics md. --- Wray wrote: > Laurie, > Thank you for posting. I am 28 yrs. old and have > RSS.
