Is she taking them off at night because they hurt or because she

can? If its because she can-you need to figure out a way to cover

them up- " hide " them per se. A sleep sack works nicely as well as the

lace covers that they sell to cover up the laces. You can also lace

them up backwards which would make them harder to reach. Worse case-

duct tape! We use a sleep sack and cover the laces with his socks on

our 19 month old son and this helps/works. The whole out of sight

out of mind theory!

If its because they hurt, you need to figure out of she has outgrown

the shoe or the bar.

Hi ,

It's good that you are on top of this as kids go through a major

growth spurt at around 2...it's a very important time for bracing.

Good luck with your little Houdini :)

When we bought our son his first pair of shoes, we though-wow velcro-

it will be soo nice not to have lace shoes!! HA HA-we learned very

quickly that a 12 month old is pretty smart and can get out of

velcro quickly!

Best wishes,

kathleen

Well...I am glad I am not the only one having this problem. My 18

month old son has BCF and he takes his soes off all the time. Naps

are the worst, everyday they are off! He only messes with them in

the morinig after he wakes before I get him out of bed. We have

tried everything but duct tape. I really do not want to do this

because of the stickyness but we are running out of ideas. We have

tried velcro, medical tape, knots in the shoe laces but he keeps

getting around all of this. Not only does he untie the shoues he

also unbuckles them!

What is a sleep sack and where can you get them? Are they hot for

the kids to sleep in?

Our 18 mo old sleeps in one-they come in cotton and in fleece-they

are more like a sleep blanket. We put normal pj's on him then zip

him up his in blanket. you can look at them online at

www.onestepahead.com under sleep-or search for Halo Blanket. They

sell the x-large size which is what wears and should be able

to wear quite a while. They are wide enough for the fab. If you are

handy with a needle, I believe in the files section there is afile

for a 2t sleep sack which can always be modified for bigger kids.

There is a pattern to make a sleep sack in the files section. My son

is 16 months, and the pattern is plenty big for him. Otherwise, some

of the other parents have used the Halo sleep sacks.

If you make your own, you can choose the thickness of the fabric you

use. We live in MN, so we have three different weights of fabric,

fleece for Winter, flannel for Spring and Fall, and a really thin

fabric for Summer. We use stretchy jersey fabric to make the

gusset. Makes getting them on very easy with the shoes.
