Hangar/Starband/DOC band

How did everyone get started meeting with Hangar and Starband suppliers? Do I

just call the clinic that carries them and tell them about my son? Or do I need

a referral from my pediatrician? Is the first consult free like Cranial Tech?

You need a referral with hanger. I struggled a lot figuring out where to go and what not. I got the major brand names and went to their website to see if they are even near me (which they aren't). Our meeting with the STARband supplier was dictated by our insurance

provider. STARband was our in-network provider and that is who the plastic

surgeon wrote the prescription for.

You can usually make an appointment with either a Hangar or STARband clinic

for an evaluation but if you want to purchase a band you will need a

prescription from your doctor. A prescription paediatrician will do;

however, your insurance may require it to be from a specialist. Our

evaluation was $150 but if we got the band the $150 would be put towards the

cost of the band.
