Guest guest
OK, I have a really dumb question. First off, I want to apologize in advance for my postings. I tend to type very fast (80wpm) and so I tend to write quite short and brief. Sometimes when I go back and re-read my postings, I'm like " eewww, that sounds a bit short " . The tone of the email, that is. So I am apologizing in advance -- for those of you who know me, you know my natural talkative stage is anything but short with people, HA!!!! Now, CLOTHING. I spent an hour going through the kids closets yesterday -- I have at least 4 feet in piles of stain-free mostly brand name shirts and sweaters. For girls, Roxy, Limited Too, Gap. For boys, mostly Gap. I just can not see giving these great clothes to Goodwill. Normally, I have my big MAGIC garage sale, but no time for that. So I got to thinking, what if we spread out clothes on tables in fromt of our Dr. H table -- maybe sorted roughly by size (but as you will see from all of us, we all look for clothes that run " smaller " than the size actually says....). My idea is that the clothes aren't priced. Our MAGIC division will give you a tax deduction receipt where you record whatever the " value " of your clothes are for your own tax records. Then, anyone at the convention can pick out the clothing they would like, and rather than priced, they simply " make a donation " to MAGIC. We could set guidelines (e.g., a minimum of $1 for t-shirts, $2 for short-sleeved shirts). BUt I would rather know that a family that needed and Tyler's castoffs got them. Do you think this would work? Would it be too chaotic??? Another idea would be to run it on Thursday night as a " division fundraiser " in the EXHIBIT HALL -- with lots of tables. We would need volunteers to staff it, but I have a list that could all do 1- hour sessions. Then whatever is left, we could put on our own Dr. H visit tables on Fri or Sat nights. SO.... thoughts? If you are coming to the convention, do you have any gently used UNSTAINED (key part) clothing? IDeally, we could ship the stuff ahead of time to MAGIC, but otherwise, just bring it. Am I nuts? Am I taking on too much? Should I just take this to the local consignment store (who gives me $1 a piece, ripoff!!!)
