I keep meaning to write in to the site and tell you this.

I went to see an orthopedic consultant at Great Ormond Street as at one stage it

looked like my daughter Maddy had hip dysplasia. I'd found a paper about

orthopedic and muscle problems of RSS people and this said hip dysplasia was an

increased risk, so I took the paper along.

Anyway as it turned out there was nothing wrong with Maddies hips (hooray) but

the consultant looked at the RSS diagnosis information in the paper (usual

stuff: elfin face, asymetry, curvy pinkies etc) Anyway he said " Ah clinodactily

- we orthopedic surgeons have always said that this is a sign of someone who is

a bone setter " so I said " that's interesting as one of my ancestors was a bone

setter. " - we got into a long conversaion about family trees etc.etc. The bone

setter in my family was washed up on the Welsh shore, taken in by a local Welsh

family and eventually married their daughter. He was thought to have been on a

wrecked Spanish galleon (very romantic!)

But anyway I was thinking - this might indicate that he had RSS and it might

indicate that RSS is passed down.. but by some mechanism we don't know about

yet. Realise this is a daft long shot but - anyone out there with relatives who

were bone doctors?!

Deb - I was going to be a smart alec and respond to you like " it's

something like an irish setter " - but, then again - I didn't want to

upset anyone by my ridiculous comments that come from I don't know

where. Exhaustion maybe? The constant nagging of my children to

spend more time with them that I already do? Or the son of mine who

takes one bite of dinner and says he's done. Yes, that must be it -

I needed to say something funny. Atleast my shoes fit. LOL (inside

joke folks)

Okay - going to the neighbors with the boys to jump on their

trampolene for awhile. You can all crucify me know <grin>.
