Guest guest
Well, we just got back from NY...Dalia had a nice 3 hour visit with Dr. H on Friday. She changed her mind about Dalia and now says she has RSS based on her asymmetry (which has become greater since last year) and her very slightly downturned mouth. I never noticed the latter, but it is ever so slight. Dr. H. said she never saw a child freak out so much over the measurements...Dalia was kicking and screaming the whole time!! Dr. H. also wants Dalia off of Pediasure..reason being that Pediasure dwells in the stomach a long time, fills the child and worsens the gut dysmotility....also causes tooth rot becauses of the sugar content. She did say that it is great for kids who have very little fat, are calorie deficient and will not eat otherwise. Dalia has a lot of fat according to Dr. H., so we are now switching to whole milk/half & half, 3:1 ratio. We also need to up her feeding therapy to twice a week because Dr. H. feels that getting her to self feed and chew and eat a variety of foods/textures is most important. She also said that Dalia's growth data indicated that Periactin has not changed a thing, but she changed Dalia's dosage and frequency. I e-mailed her to ask why continue if it is not helping. We have to take Dalia to have her right hip evaluated to see that it is " well seated " according to Dr. H. She was not totally convinced it was. Finally, she said that since Dalia is not calorically deficient we can start her on GH when she turns 2 in November....she said it would help Dalia's hypotonia greatly, so I am very excited about this. We are going to see her Endocrinologist here in Atlanta from now on because Dr. H. said she was friendly with him and he was very good. Much more convenient!! Guest guest
Sheryl, Whoa! It sounds like you had a great visit and got a lot of things covered. Things sound like they are really going in Dalia's favor and I hope that it continues. That is great that Dr. H gave you the okay on the endocrinologist that is near you. That is my biggest fear when starts GH. I hardly would trust anyone other than Dr. H unless she specifically told me that a certain doctor would be fine and that she would work with him/her. How lucky that you have someone close to you! Well, it sounds like Dalia is really doing well and congrats on the great appointment. :-) Jodi R.
