Guest guest
Hi there. Well, I'm happy to hear that someone is coming my way. I live in Phoenix and my son has been/is being treated by Dr. . He does follow the Ponseti protocol. The only thing I noticed that was a little off was in the brace hours reduction. He had mentioned that it would be ok to come down in hours from the initial 23hours/day (the first 3 months) to nights and naps. However, from what I am hearing on this board is that he is not the only doc out there that is doing that. There are other very good Ponseti docs suggesting the same thing. I took a more gradual approach to the reduction of hours. My little guy also developed a sore from the first cast that was applied. It has been a mystery as to why the sore happened. The cast had been applied smoothly and his toes had looked good - nothing to signify poor circulation. That was the only spoof. All other casts worked very well. I emailed pictures to Dr. Ponseti throughout the entire process and he was always happy with the results. So we have had a very good experience with Dr. . He communicates with Dr. Ponseti all the time and will even be going to work and attend seminars with Dr. Ponseti this summer for a couple of weeks. I can email you pictures of my little guy's entire treatment process if you would like. Let me know if you would like any other info. onemorebb wrote: Hi all, We're moving to Phoenix this summer and we have a wonderful Ponseti doc at Shriner's in Massachusetts currently. Phoenix is a long way from Massachusetts and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Dr. in Tucson. He's on Dr. Ponseti's list, but as we all know that doesn't mean they follow his protocol. I've been burned before with doctors who say they can correct clubfoot, but can't and I would feel a lot better if someone else had some experience with him. Guest guest
Thanks for the information, that does sound good. I also e-mailed Dr. Ponseti because I didn't know if anyone in this group would know about Dr. . It's great to have a good recommendation, I'm obviously nervous after seeing TWO orthopedic surgeons who recommended major surgery to correct my son's feet. Actually, our Ponseti doctor also said we could go from 23 hours to nights and naps, but after asking about it in this group decided not to go down that quickly. So it must be a common recommendation among some Ponseti docs. Thanks again for the information. Maybe we can meet when I get to Phoenix. HOw old is your child and how often do you see Dr. ? and bcf dbb 14/7 Hi all, > > We're moving to Phoenix this summer and we have a wonderful Ponseti > doc at Shriner's in Massachusetts currently. Guest guest
I forgot to add that there's another mom on here from Arizona who sees Dr. for her son. I don't know how often she checks posts, but maybe she'll chime in with her experience with Dr. V. needing prayers wrote: Hi there. Well, I'm happy to hear that someone is coming my way. Guest guest
Hello, I live in Tucson...my daughter, Audrey, is being treated by Dr. Francisco Valencia. He is not on Dr. Ponseti's list but does follow the protocol for the most part. Thanks to this board, I have been able to be very confident in expectations for treatment. I have taken Audrey to see Dr. for a second opinion and he seems great...very competent and personable as well. I would definitely recommend him, especially since he is on Dr. Ponseti's approved list. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Guest guest
Thank you Bess. So far I've heard only good things about Dr. . That makes me feel much more confident about switching to him when we move to Arizona this summer. and bcf dbb 14/7 Hi all, > > > >We're moving to Phoenix this summer and we have a wonderful Ponseti > >doc at Shriner's in Massachusetts currently. Guest guest
is 2.5 and we went through two non-Ponset doctors and he was scheduled for major surgery when I found Dr. Ponseti's site and this group. Dr. Ponseti recommended Dr. Mack at Shriner's in Massachusetts because there were no Ponseti docs in Maine where we live. was 10 months old when he started casting with Dr. Mack. I could tell after the first cast that there was a huge difference between Dr. Mack and the previous doctor we had. Really we only need a doctor to monitor him, his feet are perfect and we've had no problems with the Markells or the brace. But if he did relapse I'd want to make sure the doctor we have is following the Ponseti method. and bcf dbb 14/7 Hi all, > > > > We're moving to Phoenix this summer and we have a wonderful > Ponseti > > doc at Shriner's in Massachusetts currently.
