It's my understanding that a RNY can be somewhat modified to a DS but

I don't really know much about it. I think some of the people here

have had that surgery so maybe they can answer you question. :)

The only modification from RNY to the DS is via the bowels.....the common

channel. Nothing can be done for the RNY pouch as their stomach is gone and

does not function like ours does.

Belinda,

The RNY can be revised to a DS, but it is very difficult. More

frequently, Proximal RNY's are converted to distal. Thus they have

similar malabsorption characteristics to the BPD/DS, but the stomach

is still bypassed.
