Guest guest
Jodie, You mentioned in one of the emails that your sons legs are 1/2 in shorter. I would like to know how that has effected him in walking and all that. Have you had any doctors mention about breaking the growth plate in the longer leg when he reaches 13? I have had docs talk to me about that with . I noticed her limbs being diffrent soon after birth.. I think I noticed it before the docs did. Thanks in advance.. __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com
Guest guest
hi christine!! it is now a 1 cm difference, he has never really had a problem walking or anything, but dr h noticed this summer that his muscles (esp on the right side, the longer leg) are getting ridged which she suspects that is from him walking on the ball of his right foot to compensate for the difference even though it is slight. so she said he is to have a lift put on his left shoe and pt which will then correct this. he is also getting what is called functional scoliosis. but this will correct as well with the lift on his shoe. when he was a baby the ortho mention different possible options in the long run, but also said they only recommend the limb lenghting for people that have a large discrepency. it is also very painful i was told. so we are sticking with the lift and i am going to actually have to talk the dr into it because they usually dont put a lift on fo such a small discrepency either, but dr h said he must have it!! we are going to take him to shriners hospital in philadelphia, they provide free services for ortho. patients. jodie c
Guest guest
Jodi - I am late on responding to your email - I have not checked my mail in a LONG time. Anyway, my daughter also has a 1 cm difference between her legs - we had a CT scan to identify where the discrepency was. We decided to also do the lift in her shoe (1/4 " ) at this time.
