Anyhow, I mentioned the different types of shoes and the articulating bar to my doctor in hopes that the next time she goes into a brace we could try something different. He told me there was no articulating brace that was approved thru the Ponsetti method. Is that true? If so, how did other parent's go about getting the Dobb's bar for their child when it is not an approved bar? He told me to check out the Ponsetti brace. That they would probably put her in that because it is somewhat more comfortable than the Dennis Brown Bar. I've tried to locate a website to see what the Ponsetti brace looks like, but I can't seem to find anything. Can anyone help me? Thanks! Guest guest
Faun, For pictures of the Ponseti/ brace, you can check out the photos section from the group's homepage. You can also go to 's site: http://www.mdorthopaedics.com Click on the " store " tab. The picture they have is very small, but you'll get the idea. Dr Ponseti has not, so far as I know, endorsed the articulating brace designed by Dr Dobbs. However, Dr Dobbs is by far one of the most experienced and conscientious Ponseti method practitioners and he has been having tremendous success with this brace. You can find out a bit more about the brace itself at: http://members.tripod.com/ponseti_links-ivil/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles\ /dobbs_brace_guide2.pdf You can also send a note to Dr Dobbs: mattdobbs at earthlink dot com (without the spaces and so on, of course). Whatever you end up doing, we are here to help with any questions or concerns! My family is also in CA. My son Jonah (now 2 and a half years old) is treated at the Shriner's hospital in Sacramento--right across the street from where Brooklyn is being seen. Guest guest
My son just got the dobbs brace having problem keeping the velcro down on his brace. The velcro coming off his brace the part it sticks to. Just any suggestions. Guest guest
Hi Faun You can get a really good look at the Ponseti/ brace at www.c-prodirect.co.uk (it's Stella's site - because she's the European Agent for Ponseti /mitchells over here in the UK!) Hope it helps Kathy Faun Try wrote: Hello, it's Faun again! My daughter Brooklyn (2.5mo) had a heck of a time with the DBB. She ended up having to be recasted. Guest guest
Thanks for posting! Those are much easier to see. My question is for those of you with the P/M brace. I notice it comes higher on the ankle almost like an AFO. Is it hinged, so their ankle still has mobility or is it stationary? Thanks! 11/19/04 Kathy Bruce wrote: Hi Faun You can get a really good look at the Ponseti/ brace at www.c-prodirect.co.uk (it's Stella's site - because she's the European Agent for Ponseti /mitchells over here in the UK!) Guest guest
Faun, Dr. Dobbs brace is recently approved by Dr. Ponseti - he now has at least one of his own patients that I know of using Dr. Dobbs design. (Sorry Naomi, don't mean to contradict you) Thanks, Hello, it's Faun again! My daughter Brooklyn (2.5mo) had a heck of a > time with the DBB. She ended up having to be recasted. Guest guest
Larissa, Do you mean the part that is attached to the AFO is peeling off? I would just get some super glue and re-glue it down myself. You may also want to call the orthotist shop at Shriners, sorry I don't have their number offhand, but if you need anything you should call a, she'll help you out: 872-8342 ext. 273 Hello, it's Faun again!
