I know that is the case because I was on COBRA a couple of years ago and even tho I had sent in my payment on time, they said I was cancelled and then they would have to reinstate, because the payment was on someone's desk for 2 weeks. So, I learned to make *SURE* everything I sent to them had a return receipt signed by them when they picked up the mail. I will def do this when I send in my 3 payments of almost $1,000. I talked to my Mom last night and she is going to front me the $1000 so I can send in my 3 COBRA payments next week. What with the holidays and all, I want to be sure they get my payment asap and notify my insurance company before Jan.1st so I have no problems getting into the hospital and so Dr. Hess' office can confirm that I *do* have insurance. I will probably send my payment in Priority Mail and with a money order with return receipt. I sent in my election for COBRA that way, so they couldn't say they never got it. They got it on Dec. 3rd and it took till Dec. 21st for them to send out the bill (I called yesterday and they said they sent the bill out yesterday). So if anyone has COBRA, I agree that they need to be sure to get return receipts. COBRA said they would call my insurance company as soon as they get my payment, so if I can get this all squared away before the New Year, I should be ok for admittance to the hospital Jan. 14th. I am just so lucky my Mom is willing to help me out. If I only had my unemployment (since I am not married) every dime I would get for the first 6 weeks would go to COBRA. Just goes to show you how awful it is for those out of work who are not as lucky as I am. I thank God for my Mom. Carole
