Guest guest
How frustrating that the docs won't just be straight with you. How long will it be before the pathology report comes back? What a lot to deal with. Prayers that things will turn out better than you hope & that there will be lots of folks to help you carry the burden (including us!). Guest guest
I know this is such a trying time for your family. If they had to go so deep with the removal of the tumor, there is a better chance they were able to clear most of it out. Chemo/radiation may sound discouraging at this point, but the stronger the attack on whatever is left of the tumor, the better. Maybe they're just doing it as a precaution just in case. We'll continue to keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers. Yarolim wrote: Well everyone made it threw surgery to remove the tumor from his brain. I'm sorry the doctors aren't being very forthcoming. How frustrating!! I'm glad to hear the surgery went relatively well, but it sounds very scary, and you're in my thoughts. Guest guest
Oh Tabitha, You must be feeling so frustrated right now! I know it makes it doubly hard when the doctors are leaving you in the dark. I am glad that he came through the surgery okay and will be praying that you get good news. > > Well everyone made it threw surgery to remove the tumor from his brain. Guest guest
Tabitha- Just wanted to let you know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Just wondering- who do they expect to give you the final pathology report? Sorry it's so frustrating. Sometimes docs think it's best not to tell anyone anything when the truth is it could really help us out. Is there a way to get ahold of his oncology doc and find out what the deal is? Guest guest
Jenn, We should get the final pathology report on Friday. They have already told us that after that we will be meeting with chemo, radiation, and oncology at that time. Sometime next week. We are pretty sure it was cancer? Otherwise we wouldn't have to meet with these people. Correct? We don't know what to think. Tabitha volng8r1 wrote: Tabitha- Just wanted to let you know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. My guess is they think it's cancerous, but they don't KNOW it's cancer without the pathology report. They are preparing for cancer, and preparing you for that result, because they think that is what it is. I think it's good they have the specialists set up already, because IF it is cancer, you'll be getting right in. IF it isn't cancer, well, you can cancel. I really, really hope and pray for the optimal result for you and your family. This has to be so hard, and I can't imagine how tough it is for your family right now. Living in limbo sucks. Guest guest
I would think so...but I haven't dealt with this before. I do know that usually when they remove a tumor they will prescribe chemo and/or radiation therapy to either try to minimize the part of the tumor they couldn't remove, or to treat the surrounding area to make sure it doesn't spread. The oncologist would be the one deciding on how much he'll need. I guess in the pathology report they'll also let you know whether it (if it is cancer) originated in the brain, or if it started somewhere else and metastized to the brain. Once you find out for sure what it is, I'll be glad to help find info for you. I've done a lot of research for school and have found s Hopkins University (http://www.jhu.edu/) to have a TON of info on various different cancers. I hope the report comes back with a good outlook. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Jenn > > > > Well everyone made it threw surgery to remove the tumor from > his brain.
