Guest guest
Hi Theresa- > I think you were meant to have that procedure today in order to act > as angel for a couple of folks, and it sounds like you did an > outstanding job of it! lol..thanks for the compliment, but I was kinda loopy after the procedure so I may think I made sense and just sounded goofy and high on meds...lol. Ok...now spill on the damn procedure! > Laughing. Did you try a losenge afterwards for your sore throat and > is it still sore? Did you see any of the equipment they use or did > they hide it? How long were you asleep and how did they knock you > out! Ok...here's the procedure. Going in, I was terrified (never had an IV in my life...very chicken..lol...my blood pressure was through the roof). I was placed on a gurney...IV placed in my hand (the damn vampires..lol) saline was put into me via the IV. Blood pressure taken, pulse taken...after a small wait, I was rolled into the room. I never saw the tube (I think they hid it until I was out so I wouldn't be too nervous) Haha...as if anything could make me more nervous. They sprayed the back of my throat with a novacain type spray (supposedly tastes like bananas..lol..bananas my ass! (pardon my language) Needless to say it tastes terrible but goes away quickly. They injected a demerol and verset cocktail (their words) into the IV, placed on oxygen mask on my head (the little tubey things that stick up your nose...I looked like a total goober I'm sure). I little contraption was placed in my mouth that the tubey thing goes through so you don't bite down on it and whammo...no more memories...I woke up when they took out the IV. (demerol and verset are now my friends...lol). The procedure itself only took about 20 minutes. When I woke up, I laid there for about 20 minutes...they brought me something to drink...I got dressed and was taken to where my father was waiting. I was grinning like mad(ahhh...narcotics..lol)...we went out for lunch (a little advice...don't go out for spicy chinese food afterwards..lol...I was too high on meds and wasn't thinking properly). Throat lozenges make me nervous cause of the menthol stuff in them...I thought it may irritate my throat so I have been sucking on lifesavers, drinking really really cold liquids and I bought lemon sorbet (YUM). My throat feels really swollen right now (not painful, just a little tough to swallow) I'm fine other then that though. A scratchy swollen throat is definately all right with me considering how scared I was going into the whole thing. I hope this helps. Take care,
