Have you had your daughter in PT during this time? If so, what did the PT say about the tort? That is what CT told us but my son's tort wasn't severe like they said, it was barely moderate and the PT told us he was doing great. BTW, he is also 6 1/2 months old. I didn't want to wait until 7 months to go back to CT so we went to Hanger and has been in his band for almost 2 weeks now. I'm so glad I just went ahead and got the helmet instead of waiting. You can do PT while she's in the helmet, I don't think there is a need to wait. We also visited StarBand and they said they could put a helmet on right away without waiting either. I think CT goes by "the book" with everything instead of case to case. In my opinion, I would go with Hanger...I think you'll be happier in the end with getting your daughter

banded sooner than later since the window is very tight at this point.

My daughter is 6.5 months old and we want to get her banded soon but I went to Cranial Technologies in Pasadena and they denied her because they said her tort is still so severe. They said that the helmet would rub and make red spots due to her shoulder knocking it out of place. They want us to do 3-4 weeks of aggressive therapy and then come back to be reevaluated. In the meantime I went to Hanger and they said they will make her a helmet now. When I mentioned the severe tort they told me that one had nothing to do with the other. Because time is of the essence with helmets and she is already at 6.5 months, would I be better off going with Hanger now or try CT again in a couple weeks??? I've heard of success stories from CT but has anybody had success with Hangers bands??? Thanks for any words of advice

One more thing to think about...does your insurance cover the helmet? If not, you're looking at a cost of $3500 (if you pay for it up front) at CT and if you end up needing two bands then $7000 but if you go with Hanger, the cost is $2000 if you pay up front and you'll only need one band. Now if you don't have to worry with money then not an issue but man that's a big difference when both bands do the same thing and have the same result.

I think CT is given too much credit when StarBand and Hanger are just as good as long as you have a good orthotist and MUCH cheaper, plus you only need one band instead of two if you go with CT.
