Hey everyone, I have not been on in a while so I'm catching up on all

your posts, and I also have a concern with my son Noah. He is 15

months old, he has been walking for two months now. He saw Dr Ponseti

when he was here in California about a month and a half ago. He said

his foot looked fine except for the fact that when he walks he points

his big toe in. Has anyone ever had this problem? He was'nt too

concerned about it and said in time the brace will correct it if its

worn the correct amount of hours. He always has his brace on at least

14 hours a day. There was a week when he absolutly would not tolerate

the brace, about the same time he began to walk, and he had it off

quite a bit, but other than that week he has always worn it the exact

amount of hours Dr Ponseti ordered. He said if the brace didnt

correct it within 2 months he wants to recast him, that it could be

the start of a relaps. It has been 1 month and a half now and looks

the same. has anyone had a pointing inward toe problem? Or a relaps?

I dont understand how this could have happened, I have been so strict

on keeping on the brace and went to Iowa for his casting, I have done

everything right and dont understand how he could have relapsed. Most

kids by 15 months are only in the brace 12 hours, he is in it more.

anyway any advice would be appriciated. Thank you.

,

Whether or not the toe thing is actually a relapse I can't say - I

would leave that up to Dr. P. But what I can tell you is that the

brace is not a guarantee - it GREATLY reduces the chances of relapse,

but some feet will relapse no matter how much the brace is worn. It's

not that you've done anything wrong. I would say that it is a good

thing he is still in the brace 14hrs. and you are being a good mama

keeping on top of things. My son was also still in the brace 14 hrs.+

at 15 months. We didn't reduce to 12 hrs. until about 18 mos. and

even after that, still had days that he stayed in it 14 hrs.
