Guest guest
Just in the spirit of discussion. What are you basing the assumptions of Dr. Ren's skills on? I was just wondering what you are basing it on. Individual outcomes? Numbers of procedures performed? What? Guest guest
Ellen - You have done precisely what you accuse Steve of doing. You have crafted your response to fit your agenda and not the points he made. You totally ignored her mentor's words regarding her approach to the DS. Clearly he felt her confidence level as a lap DS surgeon was a bit low. How else do you explain why she is going back in time to resurrect an inferior surgery that is something that she feels comfortable with at the same time that she is rejecting the platinum standard that Gagner taught her to do? As to her legion of happy campers, she has relatively few. Those who she has operated upon include Deb, whose plight you have also chosen to ignore. You earlier stated (I think it was you - if not, forget about what I am about to say) that you had done your homework and chosen the GRD as the best option. Tell me, please, just where you found any information, other than what Dr. Ren told you, that suggests the superiority of the GRD over the DS. I am waiting with baited breath to read that study. Your defense of Ren is not surprising. After all, the choice one makes does reflect upon them and the level of their own investigation into their options. To criticize one's choice of a surgeon is to criticize one's own judgment. Honestly, did you read Deb's information? Did you find any study that backs up what Ren told you? Best - Nick in Sage Also you said: Steves response to my Dr. Ren posting. > Hello. Intuition fed by several isolated bits of information: The outcome with Deb. Dr. Elariny's comments re devascularizing the pylorus. Various comments on the DS list about her reluctance to do the DS. My " sixth sense " tells me that she may not be sure of her skills in this area and that she may be raising a smoke screen to cover her own insecurities--perhaps more to hide them from herself than from others. In other words, I am not persuaded that she is being honest with herself. Put it all together, and I would not even consider making an appointment for myself with her if I were pre-op. BUT THAT IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION FOR MYSELF, AND I HAVE NO INTEREST IN DISSUADING OTHERS FROM CONSULTING HER. I go a lot on intuition--part of my Meyers-Briggs (though I cannot recall my profile). You asked. I answered as honestly as I could. --Steve --

Guest guest
For what its worth (i.e. not much) I happen to agree with Steve on this....I am glad that there have been many successfull DS post-ops with Dr. Ren....
