Guest guest
Yeah! Me, too! Ditto all of this! (who's also darn tired of weird belly feelings and rumblings) :{ P.S. Steph, I'm with you on the protein, girl. You might want to try the Caramel Nut Blast Balance bar. It has 15 grams of protein, tastes OK, and has been easy on my stomach so far. Problem is that it is highish in carbs (20 something), but if it's that or nothing, well, I eat the bar. Haven't tried the other flavors yet. > I'm almost four weeks out. Guest guest
, According to my doctor's protocol post-ops start on chewable vitamins for the first month.....Well every time I took a chewable vitamin I puked I quickly learned that chewables were not my friend...My doctor told me...dont take them wait for a month then start on regular vitamins that is what I did...My 3 month labs came back fine....I have also had my labs done for several other reasons and they have also come back fine.....other than calcium.... On a really really good day, I can get in two of the calapitate and 2 allergy a & d and 1 vitamin K. I guess I'm wondering how fast deficiencies appear? My stomach is always upset for hours after taking the vitamins which is why I haven't been able to get the third set of vitamins in. Is it critical at this point? or do I still have time while my stomach adjusts? Also should I be taking a multivitamin over one of the pills I'm getting in so far. At this point I just don't see how I can get any additional stuff in since it bothers me so but I'm trying to get an optimum blend of what I can get down. Prior to taking vitamins I was getting about 40 grams of protein in a day. SInce I started with the vitamins last week I'm down to about 30g. My stomach is too upset from the vitamins to eat much more than that. I've tried the Designer Protein natural and no matter what I mix it with I can still taste the protein. I don't like any of the bars I've tried and Carnation Instant Breakfast and Boost both upset my stomach. Adkins drinks were too sweet for me and the Zone drink tasted gross. Not to mention I'm just bored with the protein foods I've been eating. I'm assuming as I continue to heal it will be easier to get food in but I'm concerned because I'm not getting in much now. Am I expecting too much at this point? How fast will a protein deficiency show up? I don't want to get short on things but I'm having a hard time finding the " perfect " mix of protein and vitamins. Any suggestions? Thanks ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone keeps talking about drinking protein but at this point I just don't see that happening. > P.S. Steph, I'm with you on the protein, girl. I just tried their chocolate raspberry fudge tonight. THe flavor is fine but it was so pastie that there is no way I could eat one of those. Guest guest
, It really looks like a Snickers. The bottom layer of " nougat " is somewhat pasty but the layer of " caramel and nuts " above it is OK. I've been through MANY protein bars and this is the only one I've been able to eat so far. Give it a shot; it's only a buck or so. Best, P.S. When I was on the " Body for Life " program (emphasis on protein and body building) I found three ways to disguise the flavor of Vanilla Designer Protein, although I haven't tried them again post-op: 1. Make w/milk; add a banana and 2 Tbs. peanut butter 2. Make w/milk; add 2Tbs.peanut butter and 2Tbs.lite chocolate syrup 3. Make w/OJ; add a banana and a few frozen strawberries These, too, are not low carb. You'll probably see a peanut butter thing running through most of my selections. I find that peanut butter disguises the taste of nearly anything, although I do get sick of it rather quickly. > > Yeah! Me, too! Ditto all of this! > > > It's nice to know I'm not alone :-). Guest guest
EWWW! Grody, Nick! Did you watch the video? It is true, however, that the uppermost layer of fat and God knows what else is rather caramely-looking. Didn't see any nuts, though!
