I wish he would do something. I've been staying home more lately just to save on

gas. These prices are getting rediculus. I filled my tank up last night because

our prices were going up today. I'm friends w/ a lady that works at a gas

station and she was telling me the gas prices were supposed to be well over $3

by the end of the week. It was anywhere from $2.75 to $2.90 in our area today so

don't have too much further to go. I wonder if Bush has stock with one or more

of the oil companies? just a thought.

Jodie Cals and I were talking on the phone a few minutes ago - and I

saw this on the news.... The price of gas is supposed to rise at

least 18 cents per gallon by tomorrow morning. This was confirmed by

the gas station attendant I just saw. Then, over the weekend, they

are predicting that it will go up another 20 cents.

I know this is a political statement, so I'm sorry if I offend anyone,

but it has to be said: President Bush, DO SOMETHING!!!!! We are not

earning more money to make up for the fast rise in gas prices. The

government has got to step in and try to stop this hemorrhaging.

Here I am, about to go back to school where I already spend hundreds

of dollars of my own money for my students, and I go through over a

tank a week just to commute. I'm going to be spending over $200 a

month on gas just to go to and from work.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. Now, go fill up your tanks!!!

Tell me about. starts school next week and I

was planning on dropping her off at school - go to

work and take an early lunch to pick her up at 10:45

and then bring her to my mother's (which is a mile

from where I work) and then back to work. My boss is

on vacation this week so when he gets back we need to

make a deal where I can work from home in the morning

so I'm not driving 24/25 miles (12/13 miles one way)

extra a day.

I'm sure Jodi Z doesn't want to switch jobs for awhile

(closer commutes).

I read your note last night about the gas..........and thought " phew glad I

live in Canada " only to be out this morning and finding out gas in Toronto

is $1.20 a litre. Now I (being the nice person I am!! am going to try to

convert that for you): let's see.........

oh man; you wouldn't know I am a teacher specializing in math would you??

UGH.....Ok first.........1.20 Canadian works out to 1.01 US.

Now I'm having difficulty going from gallons to litres. 1 gallon is

equivalent to 3.7 litres......so if I am doing this right; 1 gallon is close

to 3.00 right now (US); and Canadians would need 3 (almost 4) of our litres

to make 1 gallon. So our gas price right now (comparable to US figures) is

3.70 Canadian???? Is that right????

If it is, holy cow I should move to the states!!!!

Ok my brain hurts now. My point is, this is crazy! I heard on the radio this

morning, an email is going around to get people up here to boycott the gas

stations just for tomorrow. Apparently they would loose 4.5 million dollars

if no one bought gas tomorrow. Maybe that's what we need to do. The interest

alone on that money they won't get for 1 day (because we would all have to

refill eventually) but the lost interest alone would kill the gas

companies!!

THANKS for the heads up! Wow, good thing I read this post. I got

only a little gas at 8:30 this morning around $2.65 a gallon and a

couple of hours later my father in law came over and I told him I

heard gas prices are going up after I read this post, he said it was

already $3 a gallon, so I went back to the same gas station and it

was $3.09, only 2 hours later! Right down the road there was one at

the earlier price, I guess they hadn't switched their prices yet, so

I filled up... pretty lucky Everywhere else I went though, prices

above $3.00 which is a lot for here in Ohio.

Hey Debby,

We've been following the gas prices close here as well.

Your conversions are pretty close!

I used a conversion website and at $1.20 a litre we're paying

$4.56 per gallon (Canadian). In US funds it's $3.84 per gallon.

And expected to rise for the long weekend!

Hmmmm, can anyone see a recession looming??
