Guest guest
First and foremost Kim you be safe!! I am watching Wilma on CNN right now. And these guys are even going in!!! And good old NEVER goes in!!! The only one still out there is Miles O'Brien.....I love that guy but he sure does love to hear himself talk! I have the CD from the convention, I had one mailed up to me. But I didn't realize it did the BMI. I haven't had a chance to sit down and input Adam's data. Also the stats I gave for his weight and height are from when he was 12 years 8 months (back in June). Our next measurement date is in December. But I guess having a BMI of 17.4 puts him a tiny bit " over " weight?? Would that be a proper assessment? Imagine that!! LOL I will wait until his next measurements before I worry, he is looking way taller right now so he may have a BMI back around 16-17. Once I get the CD out and start to plot my data (I only record the data from our endo. so I am fairly sure of consistency) if I have any problems I will " holler " . Listen you stay safe (not, I'm sure, that you can read this right now) But please once Wilma is gone and you have power again, email us all right away and let us know you are safe. (PS Miles O'Brien just took a fly...the wind just sent him spiralling so even HE is going in now!! BE SAFE KIM!!!) Take care Debby Re: Deb - growth charts Hi Deb, You are right. The weight for stature chart do not work for the older kids. Do you have the CDs that were given out at the convention? These are great. You can enter all the data you have for Adam over the years & it will plot his weight & height & calculate his BMI. I plugged in the data you listed in your post. At age 9yrs, 7 months, his BMI was 15.1 and now it is 17.4. If you then plot these BMI values on the boys: 2 to 20 years CDC growth chart body mass index (BMI), you can see the percentiles. At age 9 years, 7 months, Adam was just below the 25th percentile weight for height and now he falls just above the 25th percentile weight for height. It took me a long time to figure out how to do this. I asked several times on this listserve & nobody had answers. i finally figured out how to do it on my own. If you do not have the CDs, you can still figure out Adam's BMi at various ages if you have good data for his weight and heights. The formula to figure out BMI is: weight in kilograms divided by height in meters divided by height in meters OR weight in lbs. divided by height in inches divided by height in inches times 703 You should get a number somewhere between 12 and 20ish. You plot this on the BMI chart by age and then you can where your data fits in between the percentile lines. Thus, at age 13, if you want him to be between the 10th and 25th percentile weight for height (Dr. H's recommendation), you would want his BMI to be between 16 and 17. Hope all this makes sense. I know it is very confusing. You can email me privately if you have questions at capuano_k@.... If I don't answer you right away, it is because I lost power due to Hurricane Wilma. Unfortunately, I am in the direct path & our weather should start deteriorating in the middle of the night. Kim C. > Well I finally found the time to get to the growth charts. How > disappointing. Guest guest
Deb and Kim, I was very interested in these cd's and charts you are talking of, can you tell me how to get them? Wow it must be amazing to have your children doing so well,25 to 50 percentile seems wonderful. You should be so proud of yourselfs you obviously have done evrything right, how lucky your children are. Can you help me be that kind of parent for Chloe, I'll do anything. Thanks, Reah and Chloe:) Deb wrote: First and foremost Kim you be safe!! I am watching Wilma on CNN right now.
