Janelle,

Cod Liver Oil or EFA's in general are supposed to do wonders for eczema. Its

often a sign of insufficient Essential Fatty Acid's in the diet. It might be

worth a try if you are not doing it already.

My son is 2 years 4 months. He has been GFCF for 1 1/2 months. I

had him take allergy skin test last week because I did not want to

get him used to a new diet only to find that he was allergic to the

new foods I was giving him. They tested him for 32 items - some

picked by the allergist because they were common food allergens and

the rest picked by me according to what I suspected or what he eats

most. My suspicions were right. My son turns out to be allergic to

soy, corn, yeast and a number of other things. I am still reeling

over the news because it feels there is nothing left to feed him. I

am glad though because I want results. I recently read an article by

Karyn Seroussi where she says some kids don't make as much progress

on the gfcf diet because of allergies to soy and corn. I would

encourage you to take your child to an allergist so you have a

definate answer. Having it in black and white would be good for your

husband too. Just a warning though - my son had a 0 for wheat and 1

for milk (I believe range is 0-5 with 0 being non-allergic and 5

being extremely allergic). This is to be expected since the gfcf

diet is for an intolerance, not allergy. Another thing I have read

is that food allergies have a tendency to get worse once on the gfcf

diet. The reason for this is before the diet, the body was focused

on the gluten/casein problem. Now that it is no longer being eaten,

the body is able to focus it's attention onto allergens. That may be

why the eczema has returned.
