I am just curious as to why you think the longer they are on the diet the less likely they will be able to digest it. My impression was that as the gut healed (which usually takes time) the better the chance to digest problem foods. My hope is to someday to be able to go off the diet and I am just trying to understand all I can. Thanks.........
Guest guest
, If it is the leaky gut theory, yes the gut heals, and the food stops preforating the lining of the intestines/stomach, BUT if it is a digestive problem, where your body can not break down the food, then the longer away, the harder time it will have learning to re-digest the harder proteins. Same theory as if you constantly cut your children's food into small pieces, they will never learn to chew. That's why we are afraid, also if you constantly drink alcohol, 1 beer is nothing, BUT stay dry (or sober) for a period of time, 1 beer will knock you for a loop. Hope this helps-Shari Re: Re: Gluten Confession > > >>My husband and I believe that the longer you keep your > children off of the food, the more likely they will never be likely to > digest it. << > Shari, We have been gfcf for 4 years now, and it seems like can tolerate infractions much easier now.
