Guest guest
I was nervous too because our doctor said one year. I am keeping a close eye on his feet and if I suspect anything, we will be going back before then. I posted this question in Dec. after our appt. and it seems that 6 months is the norm. Hope others reply with other experiences. new_kimberly wrote: Took Lily to see Dr. Schwend today. He said her foot looks fantastic. Her score actually dropped from a 0.5 (where it had been since her tenotomy cast came off last May) to a 0.0! Anyway, my question for you folks is about the duration between checkups. He said we don't need to come back for a year unless we suspect she's having a relapse (which I'm sure I will every month or two, lol). Is that durantion between visits normal? I guess I was expecting him to say six months, max. So it looks like he'll be relying on us to use our judgement about reducing her hours in the FAB once she starts walking (probably a few months down the road). I've always been more strict about the bracing protocol than he advises (although he defers to me & often asks me what Ponseti's latest advice is - what a riot; this group makes us more expert than the docs). So how frequently do your kiddoes who are passed the one year mark get checkups? Thanks! Guest guest
Sammy is still going every 3 months and he will be 18 months at our next appt. on the 21st. I don't know if Dr. Dobbs will continue to want to see Sammy every 3 months at that point or not. At our last visit he was just starting to take steps so I'll be curious to see if he wants us to keep coming as often now that he is walking (and running) all over the place. Not that we mind going every 3 months, I think it's kind of reassuring. My first inclination is that 1 year between checkups is kind of long at this early stage, especially since she is not walking yet. > > Took Lily to see Dr. Schwend today. Guest guest
Thanks, . That's my feeling too. Maybe once she starts to really take off walking (or sooner if that takes a while), I'll call & request a follow up visit. He'll certainly need to write a Rx for new shoes before then anyway. Guest guest
A Bumboo seat is a seat designed from high density, soft, cleanable foam. There are no straps just the form of it keeps the baby SAFELY in! There are Dr.s that use it in physical therapy. They are available online. If you do a Google search, you may be able to find the website, or I can send it to you. Sorry dont have it off hand. I am actually going to be getting rid of mine soon. Figured I'd recycle it to the group. I've only had it 2 months. Guest guest
Aleksander goes back when he is 18 months. After that, I'm not sure. Guest guest
We do our checkups with Dr. Ponseti every 3 months. But we do our checkups through email. I take pictures of different angles of her feet and send them off to him. Then he looks over them and tells me what he thinks and tells me to resend pictures in about 3 months. and new_kimberly wrote: Took Lily to see Dr. Schwend today. He said her foot looks fantastic.
