Guest guest
Amber, The best solution I found to being able to see the heel through the plastic was to have Sammy wear dark colored socks - he wore lots of Navy blue when we were first getting used to putting the brace on. The dark color is visible through the plastic, or at least it was in ours, they were plain white plastic, I know now they make them in colors and patterns. I'm not sure what you mean by moisture building up in the back, or how it affects being able to see the heel. We did have lots of sweaty socks, I usually tried to change his socks a couple times a day, and the higher the cotton content of the socks the less sweating and stinking you'll have. I didn't really find any difference in what weight sock I used, I guess I wouldn't recommend very thick because they would probably allow slipping. Hope this helps, > > Well we got back monday evening. got his braces.. he cryied and > screamed alot. but some of it was because he was tired of bein in his > car seat all day long. Guest guest
Amber and -- My 10-1/2 month old has been in Dobbs brace for about 6 months now and is doing great. We actually poked a couple of small holes in the back of the plastic booties where they meet the brace at the heal(poked out, not in) to help with the moisture, but his feet still sweat. We have found that thin socks definitely do not work or keep his foot still in place, and thick socks are just too hot, and well just thick. so we've got in the middle weight-a pack from walmart that are about calf-high work well for Mason. When we first got the brace too, Mason's little toe and his heel got a small blister on it. If gets these, don't put Neosporin on it-that only will keep it moist and won't be able to dry up and heal. Hope this helps you. Niki and Mason back from St Louis Well we got back monday evening. got his braces.. he cryied and screamed alot. but some of it was because he was tired of bein in his car seat all day long. We are in the Dobbs brace now. i have got a couple of suestions. How do u keep the moisture from building up in the back so that u can actually see this heal with out taken the brace off? what socks would be best. think, then or in the middle ? nathan is doin bettter today with the brace. he was used to keeping his heals together is the cast and that is alot of his frustation now with being in the brace. Guest guest
My son is also using the Dobbs brace and was very fussy for the first week that he had it. After that, he seemed to get used to it and returned to sleeping through the night and taking regular naps. His personality also returned, so I feel if you give it a few more days, you will see a radical change. Good luck! and TNDodgeGrl@... wrote: well the moisture i am talkin about is in the bootie itself the bootie fits in the brace.. the brace has a hold in the heal so that u can see through to the bootie. i really so apreciate the information and help that you and everyone else is able to give makes things at time easier amber &
Guest guest
Amber & , It took Mason about a week to adjust to his new brace-but is now doing totally fine and he crawls around and pulls up on things with it like it's just something natural to him. I agree it's really hard to see them like that. I actually gave mason tylonel for I think the first two days that we were home with the brace(we had also gotten one dose of his shots that same day-so he could have some medicine)-and that seemed to just really help him all around sleep better. But I would definitely call a if you have any concerns with -she's great and so is Stephani in the SHOP. Mason had both the red spot on his heel-which turned into an open sore, so we got to leave his brace off for a bit longer than normal to help it heal. But just don't put anything on it, like I said earlier. As for his little toe-they might have to cut away on end of the bootie to make a little more room for his toes-they could just be too tight in there(that's what they did with Mason). Also, I don't think that they really recommend poking the couple of tiny holes in the back of the plastic booties for air, but we did it anyways :-) Hope this helps a little and good luck. Guest guest
Amber-not sure if you understood right about not putting anything on this heel-if it come to an open sore, I meant don't put any ointment on it, but I would put a small bandaid on him. Sorry if there was a little confusion there.

Guest guest
Amber, my daughter Mollie has very sweaty feet, so we cut a small hole in the back of the inner shoe. It is just big enough to stick my finger in to feel her heel and it helps with the moisture problem. Also we have to double sock Mollie. We use a slightly thicker snug fitting sock( from the dollar store actually) put on wrong side out because they are very coarsely fuzzy on the inside and leave lots of marks on her feet. Then over that we use the old navy socks with the grippers on the bottom. And because of the double socks, we don't use the tounge in her shoe. Really you may have the just try lots of different things till you find what works best for you. Good luck.
