Don't worry, it isn't permanant and it WILL come off again. >> Thanks for bringing up this topic, Jody.........and thanks for explaining that. I am not sure I realized one could *gain* weight after DS. I knew about plateaus, but not about gaining and I know I would have " freaked " too. I am wondering if people plateau at weights they had stayed at for any length of time in their lives? Like, on our way " up " we each had highs that we thought were the highest, stayed there for maybe years, and then went even higher......so on the way " down " do you find that you plateau at those weights that you stayed at on the way up? Carole -- there's an idea. Perhaps there's some special meaning in the body's memory about the weights that we experience difficulties at (long plateaus and/or temporary weight gains).... I don't know for sure but it doesn't happen to me all the time. I just gained 3 lbs from yesterday! Wow! I'm now 204 so I know I must be going on a plateau. Damn - I'm not going to make it under 200 until this one breaks! LOL I don't know if everyone gains some weight in the plateau-loss cycle, but m any may and don't realize it if they don't weigh really often. I've been weighing myself everyday and have noticed this pattern pretty frequently. Sometimes the weight is just water retention (pre-menstrual or otherwise), other times I'm not sure what it is but my body is obviously fighting to hold unto whatever resources it can before it gives in and I lose weight again! :) Never fear, I don't think it's abnormal or means the weight loss has stopped or anything like that!!! Keep us informed -- you'll feel so great when it finally breaks and you see weight loss again! :) all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Guest guest
, I gain weight during my plateaus anywhere up to 4 lbs and then I will drop it all off in a few days...My plateaus have up until recently averaged about 3 weeks which really sucks....I am just (keeping fingers crossed) just finished my plateaus I was at 192 3 weeks ago then the next day I went up to 195 today I weighed back in at 192 considering everything I ate yesterday I have to be honest I was DREADING the scale today......But I am beginning to understand that plateaus are just a part of the weight loss and part of the plateaus is weight gain and to take it in all stride because so far the surgery has not let me down.....I am also convinced and I dont care what anyone says Plateaus happen and when they do there isnt much you can do but coast for the ride it also helps that during plateaus you are losing inches....I take what I can get Lisbeth June 25, 2001 254-->192 I don't know if everyone gains some weight in the plateau-loss cycle, but m any may and don't realize it if they don't weigh really often.
