Guest guest
I took Collin for new sneakers on Friday. He was wearing a size 10 in sneakers I figured he just need the same size again, they still seemed to fit but were just worn out from playing outside and being a boy. When we were in Iowa in September they mentioned his feet had a 2.5 cm difference at the time and his calf was a 2cm difference. I had the shoe salesmen measure and he said Collin's right foot is a 7.5 and his left foot is a 9.5! I didn't realize because he has been doing fine in the size 10 for months and months enough to wear them out, I can't remember why I bought the size 10 in the first place I'm not sure if I guessed or had him measured with that pair. But I felt terrible, so I got him a new pair size 9.5, and he says they are fine, he isn't complaining of the right one being to big or anything. When he was little and had big differences I would buy 2 pairs so they would fit good, but now I don't know what to do. What would you do, would you just let him wear the 9.5 on both feet till he complains or I see the right one falling off or make a blister or something, or would you go back and just get the smaller size pair to be safe? I have to figure it out cause t-ball starts this week and my husband has to take him to buy kleets today or tommorow but I don't know what to tell him. Guest guest
Hello Christee, Just curious how that works with Nike and the two different sizes? Do you have to purchase them from a Nike store? My daughter is 4 months old and has unilateral cf so I'm sure this is information I will need in the future. Thanks, laura & Mallory
Guest guest
If it were me I would buy 2 different appropriate sizes. Maybe on the CF side you can get the shoe 1/2 sz bigger than his foot so its not as noticable. So if he is a 7 1/2, get an 8. I dont know. Try wearing one of your shoes, and then put on one of your husbands so you can see whats its like I guess. I know Nike will sell you 2 different sizes without buying 2 pairs. Guest guest
, You could try putting a felt insole in the shoe that's a bit too big. You know, the ones made for boots? They're pretty thick and I've used them to take up a bit of room in shoes if I need to (like when wearing a men's size boot). Any outdoor store should have these felt insoles, you cut them if they're not exactly the right size. Nice and warm too! As far as the size... I'd bet that those size 10's are just small enough for his big foot, maybe not exactly size 10. I know my boys have some shoes that are a certain size, and they grow out of them sooner than other shoes the same size. I'm pretty sure some size 10's are different than other size 10's. Bet this is why he's happy in his old shoes. OK - when do we get to see this baby again? Do you know gender? Sorry if you posted, cuz I forgot if you did! Guest guest
The insoles are such a great idea Kori, I'll have to run out and get some. He's at the age where he doesn't really tell me if they fit or not, he just cares what character it is LOl! They don't fall off when he runs or anything and I haven't noticed any blisters or red marks. I know Nordstroms and Nike will see you 2 different sizes for the price of 1 but he is just interested in the cheapy character shoes still, it would be like torture for him for me to buy him a good pair. I didn't have the baby yet I'm due May 1st with a little girl. I'll be going to Iowa 36 weeks pregnant! I know I'm such a nut but I want to get his 6 month check up in on time before the baby comes!!!! Hopefully it will make the last few weeks go by quicker for me too they are starting to drag out!!!! Guest guest
Well, we have an outlet 90 miles away from us. Im not sure how you would do it if there wasnt an outlet near you. Guest guest
I don't know... but I can call and ask them. I do live in NikeTown here... so if anyone needs me to do shopping for you at outlet or factory stores let me know. I'm within a couple miles of the main outlet store here daily, it's huge. And also the Nike headquarters is close enough for me to visit too (about 30 miles). Don't know about choices... how one would know what style or color to buy because I think you get what you get there but I can ask all that stuff when I call. I wonder if they'd be interested in helping out with shoe exchanges? I know they do a ton of charity work/donating/that kind of stuff. Will let y'all know. I don't think they offer the character stuff. Think Collin would be ok without that? I always thought baby Nikes would be perfect FAB shoes and even looked into approaching them about that when Darbi was having her sore problems. With their engineers and designers working on a shoe I bet perfection would come right soon lol. Kori At 11:28 AM 3/19/2006, you wrote: >Well, we have an outlet 90 miles away from us. Guest guest
Michele, I have to say that I have never really valued those foot measurings they do in the shoe store - unless it is a real specialty store where they really know what they are doing. I was browsing with Jenna one day in Payless and the sales lady came up and asked if I wanted Jenna's feet measured - I said sure and she proceeded to tell me that she should be wearing an 8 1/2. Her current tennis shoes are a 10. I simply go by feel. I allow a little less than a thumbs width between the end of their toe and the end of the shoe. And as far as the size difference I would try to fit him (by feel) as close to what is right for each foot. I have always had a size and a half difference between my feet and as a kid my mom always made sure to buy the two different sizes so that I would not have one shoe slopping around on my foot. It was pretty uncomfortable if I ever didn't have the two sizes - I hated stuffing kleenex in the toe of one shoe to try to make them fit. Now, as I've gotten older my feet have shaped up so that the difference is mainly in the length of the foot; my heels and the width of my foot are much more similar to each other so when I wear lace up shoes like tennis shoes or hiking boots, etc. I can usually get by with the same size. If his difference is truly 2 sizes you would be able to tell that the smaller foot was really kind of " lost " inside the shoe, you'd see gaps when he walked on either side of the ankle and you would probably be able to feel the difference in the whole upper of the shoe. Hope this helps, > > I took Collin for new sneakers on Friday.
