I have been told insurance will not cover VITAMINS OR OTHER

SUPPLEMENTS by a DS support group. Can anyone tell me why if we need

them due to medical necessity? It just does not sound logical. Why

pay for the wls, but not the necessities that are a result of wls

that will maintain good health and keep us alive? Has anyone tried to

get insurance to pay for any of their vitamins/supplements. thanks

for replys.

BB,

There are a few prescription plans which may cover special vitamins for

malabsortive people. This would be the ADEK's only in our case. I've been

told that since the DS is elective the insurance may not even cover those.

I figure it this way. We can only eat a percentage of what we did before,

especially very little of the junk food. What I save on all that extra

food, pays for my vitamins and gives me a little extra to put away for new

clothes. LOL

Shop around for your supplements. I use Target and they are really

reasonable. I pay $10.00 a month for my supply of Iron tablets. I can't

remember the name but it is Forte something.
