BLUE CROSS APPROVAL

Hi Shirley Ann,

I don't know that we will need to use your name at all. I think that

Blue Cross may start to revise their policy if we were all to give them case

by case reasons to change. No one would want to hurt you with your insurance

company and I think (although I am new) our loyalty is to each other and the

good of all. I hope you don't worry. Good luck and congratulations! Ann

Hi everyone. I just want to clarify this Blue Cross stuff.

First, Blue Cross of California HAS NOT changed their policy. They still will

not approve the DS as a rule. I'm the exception (which I can hardly believe!!!)

because I have a terrific surgeon who went to bat for me and convinced an

" outside of Blue Cross " reviewing physician.

We still have work to do to get Blue Cross and the other insurance companies to

see the DS as the BEST surgery. I really hate the fact that SO MANY folks are

being butchered in a RNY because they have no choice.

So, do what I did and ask for your case nurse to have your case " RECONSIDERED " .

Tell the nurse about my situation. Prepare your surgeon for the call from the

" outside doc. " Tell your surgeon that my surgeon was willing and able to

convince the " outside doc " that the DS was a better way to go.

For me, the only thing I worry about now, is that somehow with so many of you

using ME as AMMUNITION, that Blue Cross will change their mind. I ask that you

NOT use my last name...just ShirleyAnn in California, okay?

~~ShirleyAnn
