Guest guest
It's seems most of you (in the posts I have read)have more than one child with intolerances/ ADD etc. My cousin has intolerances to gluten and dairy products and we are just starting to find out about all this. One thing that that may make you all feel at little more at ease is that now we can openly discuss and investigate the probs that the children have. My aunt's eldest son had terrible behavourial probs as a child and as a result was put in a home for 'mildly' mentally disturbed and for kids who were deemed 'troublesome'. Back then you didn't really question what doctors thought especially as he was her first child. But that was 20 years ago, surely we've come along from there? well perhaps, but in the area my aunt lives in (Milton Keynes, Bucks, UK) they seem reluctant to accept that ADD/ ADHD even exists. They wont assess his needs until at least the middle of next year and she cant get the things she needs on prescription until confirmed diognosis, so she pays £3-approx $5(US)- for 5 SLICES of bread at the supermarket. He also cannot have anything that contains orange (in the form of flavourings, colourings, anything!) The doctors say that my cousin may have ADD/ADHD, autism or coeliac's diease, or he could have all three or one of many related. We all feel quite lost, so if anyone could shed some light... Also i read that there may be a defective gene that causes a child to get these intolerances and could explain why families seem to have more than one child with similiar problems. (Although it does sound rather cold and clinical!) If anyone especially in the UK wishes to email me then please feel free- I am always on the look out for new people a little closer to home to exchange with. Best wishes to you all, Juarez
Guest guest
I am not in the UK but there is a GFCF list for those in the UK: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gfcfkidsuk Hope you find the help and encouragement you need there as well as with us. > It's seems most of you (in the posts I have read)have more than one > child with intolerances/ ADD etc. My cousin has intolerances to > gluten and dairy products and we are just starting to find out about > all this.
